There are these shiny metal tubes in the sky that enable people to get halfway around the world in a matter of hours. Look in the economy section of any Middle East 3 airline headed into Dubai or Qatar, and you'll find an awful lot of guest workers from Ethiopia or India or the Phillipines headed to and from work assignments there.

High-skilled immigration doesn't do those things, and we don't need it. High-skilled immigration makes Americans poorer. They use Americans' capital without contributing an equal or greater amount of their own.

And we have more than 300 million of them. Additional people make us poorer. It means splitting up the same resources among more people.

You can't be serious. There's no way to argue that the US needs *any* immigrants. If the US needed more workers, we would produce them ourselves. The market has spoken.

Amen to that. Skilled, smart, not disease-riddled, not crime-riddled, not gang-infested.

According to OAN, we so far have spent almost $200 billion on ILLEGAL aliens. What sane nation burns up resources like that? NONE, that's who.

This is an old story. Europe, GreatBritain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, China, Russia, and USA all have natural birth rates below or close to replacement. The implications are enormous. It is the primary thesis of Harry S Dent (Roaring 2000s).

Specifically electricians. That's something I wont/cant do and I would like an artificially increased surplus in order to drive down my costs.

I love it when people cut off the rest of the quote. Yes, I do it too, it's fun to twist and turn.

A optimally functioning market requires an optimally tuned legal infrastructure. Where that is lacking, mafia fills the gaps.

The US legal structure with respect to immigration is in tatters.

The same for trade. And also health care while we're at it.

The market has spoken? You can't be serious.

That the market would speak.

Alas!

And there it is, the real reason for the resistance to immigration.

I read a survey of factory owners (in the WSJ, I think) that said about 50% of job applicants couldn't pass a substance test. Can you imagine that many people are too stupid to clean up for a couple of weeks?

Then there's the terrible K-12 education that the bottom 50% of us get, graduating high school unable to read and write English or do basic math or think critically. Taught by liberals (90% of K-12 teachers are Democrats), indoctrinated by left wing Hollywood to hate and despise businesses and the mostly white men that run them.

The population has gotten stupider, lazier, more self-centered than ever before in our history. Many of us don't even want to bother with raising children. We have no choice but to rely on immigrant labor to keep our country going.

They're going to come here, legally or not. We need to get the process under control like with Ellis Island. Take the best of the best, require that they become American and learn English, and they will be fine.
