I've tried many time to have rational discussions on here.
Same here, and I've had many good discussions with people, but with the right wingers, it's virtually impossible.

You could say that the US government is in fact a fascist state. The GOP are quick to get on their knees to sell themselves to the highest bidder, but many on the left are guilty as well.
You're comparing it to the previous president, a Republican who went out of his way to cut social spending. Compared to any developed western nation in the world, Obama and his known positions would be on the right in any other country but the US. You and others have drifted so unbelievably far to the right to see it. Right wingers in America are actually evil enough to support universal health care, they'd prefer to see children die of preventable diseases than be a responsible decent human being and see any downgrade on their gold plated health care plan. Obama is trying to push America into a nation where non-ignorant religious nutjobs already were in the 1960's

We've had FAR more socialistic presidents than Obama is. Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ and even Nixon. These guys established things like the IRS, the Federal Reserve, Social Security, Medicare, OSHA, the EPA, and much more. FDR had the New Deal and even proposed a Second Bill of Rights that guaranteed all Americans the right to a job, a home, healthcare, etc. LBJ even proposed the Great Society. All these utopian ideas.
But where is Obama's huge government program or utopian idea? And how or why is he more of a socialist than the former presidents I listed above?
1. the most liberal senator in the senate
2. mother was a communist
3. had associations with known communists
4. installed at least two communist on his White House staff
5. Talks about redistribution of wealth as a campaign promise
6. villifies "the rich" and demands more taxes, despite them paying all the taxes now
7. Is an ardent opponent of US corportation
8. Supports the unions at the expense of the individual
That about sums it up. Obama is clearly a socialist and would like nothing more than the destruction of the capitalistic economic system and the installation of an authoritarian socialist political regime. It is who he is, like it or not.
For those who are losers in life, who have not achieved thier goals via personal hard work and education, such a system is preferable; it allows the losers of society the THOUGHT that thier economic situation will improve, when in fact, it will get worse.
