Hate to bud in between you and your friend. But in a way yes he is right.

I have a cousin and some good friends who work at S.S. offices in this State and across the Country, Texas , Arizona, and N.Y.

I have been told over and over gain, that some people who are getting assistance, just do not want to better their lives in anyway. He said it is so sad, because they don't have a clue except for their assitance.

Do you know i was told so many pull fraud, by lying on their qualificiation papers for S.S. and disability.

And when these people are found out, they become hostile, violent, and in one case in the H.D. area of Ca, one idiot pulled out a gun, right there in the friggin S.S. Office. The security guards had to subdue the nutcase, and the police were called.

My cousin said so many of these people try to their best, to fake the system, but the system, will find them out.

Makes perfect sense to me, if someone is of a lazy nature, programs as some that exist, are going to further, the people being lazy. Not all people there are some who truly are deserving of it, and want to get off of it as fast as they can, as some i know who lost their jobs under this administration. Some nice Change ha!
People who are lazy, and believe me these people are out there, you should know this, they don't need a reason to be lazy, they just are.

For the ones who do get on assistance, because they truy need it at the moment, but work towards getting off of it, my respect goes to them.

Talk to GM employees, they have a different story. They told me (at least 1 of them did) last week that Obama screwed them in order to favor the unions. Furthermore, BUSH BAILED OUT GM.. Not Obama

On prices, prices have been very stable and not on the rise. Here is the CPI:

you better go to the store and readjust your numbers

inflation has been near 15% for the last 3 years

look at the prices in the stores

have you benn to the store

prices are going up, and up

coffee is double what it was 4 years ago

coffee up

sugar up

cotton up

corn up

all other vegitable up

all meats up

almost everything us up

REAL INFALTION IS CURRENTLY ABOUT 10-15% or more...unfortuantely the government(from either party) doesnt give us the REAL numbers

it certainly is for every working class person or old person

you think that your utility cost being up is not inlation???

you think your medical/pharm costs being up is not inflation???

you think your clothing costs being up is not inflation???

you think your housing (rent and rela taxes) being up is not inflation???

you think food costs going up is not inflation???

you think building supply costs (ie home depot) being UP is not inflation???

almost EVERYTHING we use has gone up by at least 10% to in some cases 30% in the last 3 years...and you are going to tell me inflation is "only 2% or less"

have you been to the store???...have you SEEN THE PRICES???? milk is nearly $4 a gallon...meats have gone though the roof...in 2004 a 3lb can of coffee was about $3...today its a 2.2lb can of coffee and its $10...over a 300% increase in less than 10 years

sorry you are too blind to see

you certainly do prove that the sheeple are out there for the slaughter

so are you going to tell me YOU BELIEVE the government TELLING YOU that inflation is at 0-3% when PRICES in nearly everything have risen 10-20% or more????

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND...dude

the 'inflation rate' is not REAL INFLATION (ie COST inflation) that real americans (and seniors) feel with almost everything we buy

costs are going up on almost everything..especially food (which is NOT counted in the 'inflation rate')

Junk fish called Tauplia which was selling in 2008 for 1.28 a pound is now close to 5.00 a pound...Catfish that averaged between 3.49 and 3.99 at 6.00 plus.... Not just one store, they are all similar in price. Paper towels are highway robbery.....deli ham/turkey which I used to get for 2-4 a pound...now 6-9 a pound

last Thanksgiving,,Sweet potatoes they were 49 cent/pound...now $1.79/pound

breyers icecream HALF GALLON, was (2008) 2for 5...now its 1.5 quarts and its 4/each

Even cooking oil 48 fl oz... went from $2.99 (reg. p about 6 months ago) to $3.69 (sale)... from $4.29 (reg. price).

Gee the socialistic policies for the last three years have really done great! One million less people with jobs. And the recession ended before Obama's policies took effect. You must have a small shoe size indeed.

What pghquest and others who think like him don't want to acknowledge is that these programs were put in place because we had poverty. If social programs cause poverty why is it than when we only had claw-in-tooth capitalism there were lots of poor people?

But this outlines the differences in the Parties. The GOP uses whatever excuse, no matter how baseless, to justify cutting programs for Americans while cutting taxes for the rich.
There are a lot more poor people today with Obama's policies!

Just restating that the things you note are not actually counted in official government inflation numbers.

Hence, with falling home prices the official government numbers remain low.

But, has housing prices really fallen? I know buying a home cost has dropped, but as more people leave homeownership and move into renting, this inflates the cost of rent.. You gain on one, lose on the other.

There is indeed more to housing than the price of houses. I imagine rent is up. Not to the rate that housing has fell.

Business will not make investments because increased costs from Obamacare are on the horizon, the largest tax increases in history are looming 1/1/13, crippling regulations have been imposed. Consumers will not spend because they don't have jobs, fuel and food prices have risen so high, tax increases are coming, the markets are unstable, home prices continue to fall. Obama has kept US companies from drilling as much as they want, has vowed to put coal companies out of business and stopped needed pipelines. He is killing jobs and tax revenue. Consumers are afraid our country is going broke because of the spiraling debt from Obama spending. They are holding onto every penny because of it.
