And how did you make the leap that I expected anybody but myself to "foot the bill" for my own kids?
I tried to make the point that sometimes things happen - husbands die, husbands abandon the family, whatever, leaving mothers on their own to support their children.
And then you made the ASSumption that I was dependent on you and others like you to support my kids.
Newsflash! I worked two, and sometimes three, jobs to support my family.
The fact is, that other than a year on food stamps (when they actually were still "stamps") right after the ex abandoned the family, and a few months getting EBT benefits while I was briefly unemployed (which I promptly canceled as soon as I got a job), I have received no "hand outs" (unless you want to count the SSI disability I get now because of being injured on the job, and after eight surgeries, am now permanently disabled).
So, don't worry.......none of your precious pennies went to help raise my kids.
Except they actually did. I'm in a higher tax bracket than you, so I pay a MUCH HIGHER effective federal income tax rate AND receive far fewer benefits per tax dollar paid.
If we had a flat tax, you'd have a point. But we don't, so you have no point.
I never said it was. If you didn't let your ADD kick in after the first sentence, you would have read the part about PROPERTY TAX. At least, that's how it was funded in my state.
I'm not the one with ADD. Romney wasn't talking about property tax. He was talking about federal income tax.
No one has any clue why you would bring property taxes into the discussion. They're completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Combine resources with others... family members, friends, etc. People CAN and DO support themselves and their children without resorting to government handouts.
