I give him a pass on this one. It's hard enough to lose your wife and child, but to think your own wife was at fault is even worse. I wouldn't wish what happened to him on anyone.
Translation: Mr Biden tragically lost his wife and daughter, and almost his two sons, in an accident where a tractor-trailer hit the Biden family car. In his grief, Mr Biden or someone else may have raised the possibility that alcohol was involved in the accident. And that possibility has been permanently attached to the tragedy in Mr Biden's mind. The standards in 1972 were far less stringent regarding drinking and driving, and the police would have reached their conclusions based on the 1972 standards, not the 2012 standards. However, there is no way to go back in time to determine how sound the police's conclusions were. Moreover, Mr Dunn was terribly affected by this tragedy, as was his family, and AFTER Mr Biden's comments in 2007, Mr Dunn's family reached out to the media to dispute those comments. Nothing can be proven today one way or the other, and again, has Mr Biden said anything about Mr Dunn since being contacted by Dunn's family?
Translation, Biden lied... Lots of words to come to the same conclusion
Wow...Really people? It was rumored that Dunn consumed alcohol but because the police report was "lost" no one knows for sure. When someone lose a family member to something as tragic as this, they will always try to apply a reason when there is none. The fact that this type of thread was started and the vitriol concerning something that none of you could imagine or want too, just shame.

Have you ever lost someone to a car accident? I have. When something like that happens, you try to gravitate to any reasoning no matter how long its been since the tragedy. Not paying attention, speeding, defective car, drugs, alcohol, anything to try and find a answer to get you by. Until you've been in that situation and felt that loss, then you really should try not to judge.

Why? She's the one who blew through the stop sign.
In truth, there was no finding of alcohol being involved in this tragic incident. In fact, some investigators thought at the time that the accident was caused by Biden's wife pulling out into the intersection not having seen Dunn's truck bearing down upon her. It was simply a horrible accident with no blame saying Dunn was at fault, much less drunk.

Feeling that way within yourself is one thing. Spewing it all over the universe as truth is quite another and there is no excuse for it. It's a blatant lie.

The guy lost his wife and kids, fer crissakes.... give him a frickin' break already!
That's the irony about these kinda right wing "moral outrage" threads with their little vendettas...that wingnuts clearly never "get" things like common decency, empathy, or the compassion necessary to understand the larger picture. So instead it actually just ends up making them look like a bunch of petty unfeeling sociopaths. Which also explains a lot about their positions re: income inequality, health care, gay rights, minorities, the social safety net, etc.... because just like an accountant (or a sociopath), it's all just so much unfeeling 'data' to them! This is the kinda "better world" they wanna create?!

How do you know? There was no breathelizer back then. Where is the Police report? No one could find it. The fact that you and others are taking someones tragedy, no matter if he's discussing it on TV or in the mens room, and using it to pass judgement is the pathetic part.

If so, she did it, not him. He's got to deal with the aftermath. I refuse to judge him on this one. If it makes him feel better to think she wasn't at fault, so be it. If it's a blatant lie I have to wonder why the driver's family hasn't sued him.

I'm no Joe Biden fan, but maybe he believes it is the truth. For all we know it is the truth. I do know it is true that people in accidents were not automatically tested for alcohol use back then.

No.
Lying or even insinuating something is what's wrong. Think about how hurtful this was to the family of the truck driver. Think of them for a change, which is something Blowing Babbling Lying Joe Biden has never, ever done.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital. There is no record whatsoever of anyone at the hospital suspecting the guy had been drinking. I worked in an emergency room when I was younger and that is always, always, always noted if it's the case.

Lying JoeBlow is the one who is passing judgement. In public. From a position of power.
How about a link showing what he said instead of a blog with no link claiming what he said? Until then this is just another right-wing lie.
So true republican nut jobs only watch Faux Snooz they will not give the light of day to PBS CNN & Bloomberg news. This right here sums up republicans
