I agree with you that Congress went overboard with financial regulations. I think a little more risk is a good thing. Then again, we don't really know what the full regulatory impact will be as the regulations aren't completely baked yet. The rest of your post is just shop worn, tired, and inaccurate republican talking points.
I agree with the bolded part of your post...no doubt, but which financial regulations are overboard specifically?

My main area of concern is in the requirements that derivatives be traded on exchanges. That was my main objection when I read an executive type summary. The reasons why are way, way beyond the scope of this thread, though. I am not up to date on the regulations that have been finalized either and much of Dodd Frank is in the regs that will follow, so maybe some of what bothers me never came or will come to pass.
National Journal poll just out: Obama up +5 in national poll. In past polls from them they have had Obama up, then tied, and now up again.
Jay Cost just pooh poohed on that one same firm doing poll for both Pew and NJ during same period comes out with wildly different results. Goes to show you that who orders the polls influence assumptions and outcomes.
I think that Canadians are very much more reasonable people on average than Amercans. I also think that Canadians are very much more political aware than your average American. Given the background that Canadians elected a majority CONSERVATIVE government just last year I think it's very interesting what the latest poll in Canada says about the US presidential election.
The results were Obama by an astounding 7 to 1 ratio. Obama-72% Romney-10% and 18% unsure.
