They didnt vote FOR Cochran, they voted against the other guy ...
Nothing wrong with that process. I've done it many times myself, even to the point of switching parties in the primary to make that vote. And so have a lot of people I know.
Cochran didnt go reach out to them and build trust and what not with them. They went out and said that other guys is this that and this and he is racist and he'll try to prevent you from voting and make you starve, etc etc etc. They didnt vote FOR Cochran, they voted against the other guy due to lies and bs.
Cochran reminded blacks that McDaniel was a Tea Partier. The Tea Party has made no pretense of how they view minorities. It comes as no surprise that they didn't want him to represent them in the Senate. Why is that so hard for Conservatives to understand?

I can't wait to hear from the Tea Party candidate who argues that any election in which the result was based on the votes of black people is inherently invalid.

It's the illegal votes that are invalid. That's what we've been discussing this entire time.
So what? In open primary states, that happens with crossovers all the time.
I knew many Tn Repubs who voted for the candidate they thought easiest to best in the 2008 Democratic primary..Barack Obama.
When you lose is not the time to all of a sudden take issue with a common occurrence of open primary states.
In 2012, I voted in the Michigan Republican primary. I voted for Mitt Romney. Do you know why? Because he was running against Rick Santorum. Romney is a reasonable, sane representative of the Republican party that most Americans would find palatable. Santorum is an extreme right-wing crazy type. If one of those had to win, I would much prefer Romney to do so, even though Obama ended up winning in the end.
I don't see why my situation was any different.
