It would cause food prices to rise which would impact a state already with 20% of its population on food stamps. It would adversely affect the poor. It's also just another government intrusion where it's not needed.
Oregon ranks very middle to low on most quality of life rankings.
Is that why you love living in Oregon so much because of the low quality of life? I am betting you enjoy this quality of life here that you seem to want to bad mouth.

That is actually a false claim, there is no proof that it would have any impact on food prices because there are already countries that these companies that sell to that require labeling. This was nothing more than an expensive run at trying to hide what is in your food, and apparently you support not knowing what is in your food.

You're incapable of having a rational discussion about anything Portland or Oregon related so I'll pass.

Sorry, I just find it humorous that you keep trying to say the quality of life is low here yet you seem to enjoy living here because of the quality of life. Sounds a bit hypocritical.

You're right. There is no proof that it would increase food prices because to get proof you would have to pass the measure and then visit the future to see if prices increased or not. That's not possible, so I used the economics knowledge I have to make my decision.
Actually I was very proud that they voted overwhelmingly against driver cards for illegal immigrants, allowing the state to sell bonds for a college tuition fund and it looks like GMO labeling will fail.
But as far as the political climate in Oregon? There are good and bad Democrats, and Oregon ones are the worst.
So did you also vote in favor of 89 and 91 while also voting against 90?

It's not hypocritical. I am well off and have a great job, my quality of life is grand. But for those in the 2nd to 4th quartiles of income, I have to question how good the quality of life is for them in this state.

Has the food costs gone up in the countries that do have GMO labeling? That is the easiest place to get your answer.
Regardless, it looks like it will probably be till Friday before we know for sure, and if it fails it will more than likely be back on the ballot in 2016 because it is important for people to know how their food is made. I personally like knowing what my food is made of.

Do they not have the same access to things in Oregon that you have access to? Not everything in life is about income, but it is good to see that you are so concerned about those making less than you.
