I appreciate and thank you for your service. My opinions while not as strict as some here on our military, is formed mostly by my family members that have served and what they saw and experienced. My father, brother in law, grandfather, great uncle ( whom died at Pearl harbor) step father ( whom suffers from Post traumatic stress disorder from Vietnam) uncle in Korea whom lost his leg and eye, another Uncle and Aunt ( whom was a war nurse). I am extremely proud of them and even considered joining myself, but was turned down due to medical condition.

I think you need to revisit the US involvement in the Middle-East, including, our support for the creation of the state of Israel, interventions related to oil, overthrowing governments. Personally I think you and people like you are arrogant and imperialistic. If you just admitted to your love of the Empire you would actually have credibility.

And, with all due respect, I will bring up Ron Paul any time I want to.

Aw, lots of folks supported the creation of the state of Israel...

The Avalon Project : UN General Assembly Resolution 181

They've just been cowed into pretending to love the Palestinians through petro-blackmail...

My uncle in-law served in Vietnam. He has had quite a hard time but is doing pretty well now. I was 6 or so years removed from Vietnam although I was still Italian then, but had a Green Card. I was in the Selective Service even before I actually became American. I actually registered for the Selective Service at the Consulate in Naples.

I don't have an opinion as to the state of Israel, or the Palestinian cause. I just don't want to have to pay for it in the form of direct funds to Israel, Arab Countries, or the War on Terrorism caused by our intervention.

As they say here in Texas.... I don't have a dog in that fight.

The US hasn't expanded its territory since the Spanish/American War in 1898, so your use of the term of "imperialistic" and "Empire" is misplaced. If the US were an Empire, all of Europe would now be part of the US.

The last time I checked, there were 33 nations who supported the creation of Israel on November 29, 1947. So to claim that the US deserved to be attack for our support of Israel is at the very least dishonest.

If you don't mind throwing all your credibility out the window, feel free to bring up Ron Paul whenever you like. As far as I'm concerned, Ron Paul supporters are one of the least informed group of people in the US, and deserve to be dismissed out of hand.

I think having 500,000+ troops in bases in 130+ other countries represents an empire.

There may have been 33 nations who supported the creation of Israel, but there were a lot of angry Arabs who opposed it. I don't care about Israel, if it exists or doesn't. I just don't want to pay for it. They need to take care of themselves.

And your use of the word deserved is underhanded and lame. I never made such claim nor even implied it. You might have inferred it but that is your problem.

I have met Ron Paul and have talked to him and have studied his ideas and ideals and you don't hold up a candle next to him.

dollars. That's why we're in Iraq. That's why we threaten Iran. It's why we're friends with Saudi Arabia. It's why we trade with China. Dollars.

That's the same as saying Iran must have nuclear weapons because everyone in Iran is bat Shiite crazy. The NIE says that don't and aren't trying. They are, however, trying to switch to the Euro. They want all of OPEC to change.

Let's trade with everyone as friends! Even Vietnam now is a trading partner. Just 30 years removed from an incredibly bloody war with them.

But with the Arabs, we have to screw with them for profits. Read this article:

THE UNITED STATES AND THE IRAN-IRAQ WAR (broken link)

And the Americans have to pay for it all and get killed for it.
