machismo can come off as trying too hard. After launching his campaign with a theme of a “new American century,” Rubio has realized that he needs to be more confrontational to woo angry conservatives. But unlike Trump, Carson and Cruz, he hasn’t done or said anything that Democrats could use to flat-out disqualify him in the eyes of swing voters.

If anything, Rubio has plenty of general election upside.

It’s hard to imagine Clinton matching the share of Latino voters that Obama won in 2012, 71 percent, against a Spanish-speaking son of immigrants who supported a bipartisan immigration reform bill. It’s also hard to imagine Clinton matching Obama’s 60 percent among 18-to-29-year-olds against a candidate two decades younger than she is. Finally, unlike in 2012, Democrats wouldn’t have the luxury of portraying the GOP nominee as a corporate robber baron who has never walked in voters’ shoes.

Agree with the article. Unfortunately, it seems to be the moment for wild-eyed, frothing at the mouth types who are willing to give Hillary the Presidency in a temper tantrum just to spite the GOP.

Oh well, we can survive a Hillary Presidency. The GOP should concentrate on holding Congress and looking forward to 2020.

I am working on resigning myself to this. Getting ready to go vote now, even though I know it won't change anything. I at least want them to know there is still a group of us who don't want Trump.

I'm with you. We don't vote in Maryland until April 16th, but I will be voting against Trump in the GOP primary even if he's the only candidate left running at that point.

I can't in Arizona without changing to either party for the presidential because they are closed elections. I'd vote anyone but Trump to but I don't like any of the options available.

When I hear Rubio talking so defensively of Israel, I think I know what's behind that! Casino Mogul Adelsen will only fund a Republiclown, I mean Republican, unless he/she is staunchly in support of Israel.

Nice thing about Rubio is he's very puppet-like. If you tell him to Sit, he sits, if you tell him to stand, he stands. Makes for a lovable President!

The modern Republican Party has failed its constituents, the Trump counter-movement is merely a reflection of that. Instead of asking why Trump is winning the Party should be asking why establishment candidates are losing.

Because they can't win anything other than Senate races with the tail wagging the dog. In the national races, that don't work and we will see that in November.

The article is dated Jan 28th. Much has changed since then and Rubio has steadily declined in the polls and votes. He is pinning his hopes on Florida, having given up on Super Tuesday.

This is a clear indication that it's time to reform the Republican Party. Losing elections this way is a symptom of a much more virulent disease.

People are voting for Trump because they think he might be able to actually get things accomplished which is in sharp contrast to the obstructionist that the modern Republican Party has become.
