What do all those phrases have in common?

Answer: They are common cliches.
Plagiarism isn't a partisan issue. It's not a difficult concept and is clearly defined. Work is either original or it's not (and you're not allowed up claim that it is yours). Anyone with a grade-school understanding of language and literature understands what plagiarism is.

In this case, a portion of the speech was nearly verbatim to Michelle's speech. Two paragraphs had an identical chain of ideas, and the language used to express those ideas were, too, identical. The work was then presented in the same context as its original, at a political convention. And, very unfortunately for Melania, she claimed the speech as her own earlier that day.

Anyone in academia understands well how severe and unethical any degree of plagiarism is. This mistake is clearly undeniably and irrefutably the definition of plagiarism. To say it's not is meaningless and works to invalidate everything else you say.

Muslim and illegal immigrants must be defended, but a LEGAL immigrant woman is mocked. Nice.....
If the RNC and Trump cared about Melania they would find out who wrote the speech and fire them and publicly admit that a staffer screwed up and that the mistake was not recognized before she gave her speech, thus restoring her credibility. But no, they would rather double down and try to blame Hillary. Seems to me that they are the ones who don't give a crap about the "legal immigrant woman" since they clearly left her swingin' in the wind

Keep it up. I'm rooting for you to keep going at it along with the media. Lovely.

Ha! Look at the side-by-side videos of both women giving Michelle's speech! Michelle is GORGEOUS!

Yes, Melania Trump is a plagiarizer based on the facts we know today. No amount of spin or passive aggressive tantrum is going to change that.
.
If you really believe that, you should be pleased as punch that Michelle's thoughts, ideas and values were copied. The left should be crowing about that, not getting their panties in a wad. Or isn't that the spin you would like?

It was tongue-in-cheek sarcasm. I would have thought it obvious to anyone.

Unless they just want a springboard to further malign the opposition.

Melania is close to being a victim in this. Her staff had one job - make her give a decent speech. And they blew it to an astonishing degree. This campaign is giving the word "amateurish" a bad name.
You forgot one bullet:

  • After the election, blame her for the loss

Oh well.
"Always predict the worst and you'll be hailed as a prophet." - Melania Trump.

(Although those words were also put together that way by Tom Lehrer somewhat previously.)

Read about war and tactics and understand traps. The Democrats have just blundered into a big one. Watch how women gather around and protect one of their own from the bad, bad men who surround her and trying to blame her. Poor, poor immigrant woman, who is being attacked by the Bully media and Democratic party.

Democratic Apparatchiks are pure and simple neophytes. That is how easily they are manipulated by everyone who desires so.
LOL. Yes, it was all part of your candidate's master plan to make sure his wife was ridiculed on the National stage. I guarantee you Trump is FURIOUS about this and he has no one to blame except his own campaign staff. Well, and Hillary of course.

Someone failed to do their job. Plain and simple.

You realize that this conflicts 100% with the Trump campaign's explanation? Or is Manafort's explanation that Hillary caused all of this also part of the grand scheme?

Still trying to get us to vote for Trump, huh? Won't work.

It's a head-scratcher for sure.
The Trumpeters are masters of The Spin.

I agree. I doubt that she wrote it herself and Paul Manaforte left her out to dry this morning. "She knew what she was doing'.

I DO feel sorry for her.

Think about it.
Of course someone should have caught it.

Does anyone think Michelle wrote her own speech? Did anybody read her college term paper ?

They probably had the same speech writers.

The media must be Desperate to go through an entire speech and nitpick like that

Big deal, and time to move on to ACTUAL issues that affect American citizens.
Absolute FAIL!
Michelle 'owns' her composition.
Michelle or her ghost writer did not plagiarize her speech.
Melania says she wrote her own speech.
The plagiarized portions of the speech were patently clear to even the casual observer.
Plagiarism does affect American citizens: Ask any writer trying to earn a living from authentic work. Ask any school or university student or professor.
