as well as 2/3 of each house of congress, since it would require a constitutional amendment to eliminate the electoral college.
It's fear mongering, now all we need is good ole Joe to say "they're gonna put ya'll back in chains"

OP...dunno...about 2020 Trump.

But do know the dems want to abolish the EC. With no EC they have a great chance at perpetual control. And if they can get the 16yo allowed to vote it will be all over for the reps.

our process smooths the various regional group think. Its a beautiful forward looking thing.
I'm sure the King of England thought the same thing in 1776.

I understand what the EC is trying to accomplish - but the further removed we get from equal representation in this country, the more pronounced this discussion is going to become.

Get rid of the Electoral College? Not going to happen. Will probably take a constitutional amendment and the small population states like WY, ID would fight any changes tooth and nail.

There is a far, far easier solution. Provide a candidate that the people will support.

If the President were a dictator, that might be the case, but you have this thing called the Congress, and the Senate which disproportionately favors less populated states. Funny how right wing fail to grasp that while flipping out over the mere suggestion that the electoral college disenfranchises people.

Good idea Moore - better get started with that Constitutional amendment now: 2/3 of the House, 2/3 Senate and 3/4 of the States. Think you can get all that done by 2020?

Fat chance Fat Boy.

You want to disenfranchise voters from small states. No thanks, we'll keep it the way it is. Thanks for the idea though.

you know the righties would be screaming to eliminate the EC if that favored them, of course. Any claims that this is some love of the funding fathers' plan is bull, it's just that they are thrilled that empty land gets to control elections because the empty land happens to be in red states. They are perfectly fine with voters in Wyoming having 4 times the electoral power of voters in California because they happen to be GOP voters. They can't stand the idea of true representation via the popular vote because they are outnumbered.

And the lefties would be trying to keep it if it gave them an advantage .But the EC is part of the Constitution, so its sort of tough sheet for those that don't like the method the FF laid out in the Constitution.

BTW, I don't like MM, but MM was the ONLY person claiming Trump would win , and he detailed out exactly HOW Trump would do it. It was like the guy time traveled forward and then back here again. Now he says that Trump will likely win again in 2020. I'll believe him long before I believe the same people that were here in 2016 saying no way Trump wins , especially if the NK/SK peace process works and the economy stays on track.
