Right.
I guess her old head wounds are acting up or something...
Thanx. I'm not up to date on the latest. I doubt Russian people and the people of Donetsk/care much for pretty speeches. You mentioned the church gaining more power. That can be bad.

I am more afraid of Kim Jong Un frankly, at least Asians are proven to have high IQ. Russia will stop whining for as long as someone gives them vodka, while your new friends from America and the west europe only care to prove us that "Grundig" and "Nokia" can be "great again"...and they can't...

are you guys talking about Natalia Poklonskaya? She's the one that started the whole mess around the Matilda film.

After a request to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation State from the Duma deputy Natalia Poklonskaya known for her veneration of Nicholas II,[11] the film's material was audited and no violations were found.[12] Chairman of the Duma committee on culture, film director Stanislav Govorukhin criticized the idea of checking the film, he expressed confidence that such scandalous initiatives should be "nipped right in the bud." In the Kremlin, Poklonskaya's request caused confusion and an uncertain delayed response. The Ministry of Culture of Russia said that the question of issuing certificates for rental of the film will be decided upon the completion of work on the picture.[13][12][14][15]
Somewhat later in December 2016 it was reported that the prosecutor's office will request the movie's script for inspection at the request of deputy Poklonskaya.[16][17]
In September 2017 Cinema Park and Formula Kino group, the Russia's biggest cinema chain, cancelled screenings of the film due to "extreme actions by opponents of the film" and threats made against cinemas. They later reversed the decision.[18] Two cars were torched outside the Moscow office of a lawyer acting for Alexey Uchitel, the director of the film.[19]

Why be surprised that her views are being promoted? The old Russian empire is reviving as a model of governance. It was supported by the troika: autocracy, nationalism and Orthodoxy.

This mentality is the same, they created an idea that an attack against the church is somehow and attack against God. Same with attacking Putin is an attack against Russia. Strong position to be in when people are fooled into thinking this way.

I think that "Nicolas II" is the last thing on the minds of Donetsk population under the current circumstances.
As I probably mentioned, Eastern Ukraine has tendency to be left-leaning; (much more so than Moscow lol.)

As for the "church gaining more power" - that's true too.
When you have rich people ( and their money) in charge of the country, with plenty of others sinking in poverty, that doesn't work too well for the "national unity." So Putin and Co employ the Orthodox Church, in order to provide the population with "common ground" and "spiritual ideas" instead of former "Soviet ideology" to unite the nation - that's the way I see it.

You describe PART of Russian establishment as if it pertains to the whole country.
In reality it doesn't, it doesn't at all.
Plenty of people in Russia don't support these ideas, but they won't rock the boat for the reasons I explained many times earlier. Which is smart thing to do on their part under the circumstances.
