Yeah he was not an "elite" player, but he did play NFL nonetheless. Not that I care but apparently he played for 7 seasons: Paul Smith, RB at NFL.com

Anyway, the gym was founded after his football career so he may not have even trained w/Crossfit during his pro seasons..

Sounds like a sports injury surgeon's dream patient. Put them on that kind of regiment, and we'll see you in five years for your first knee surgery, another five for the second knee surgery, and in ten years later, we got ourselves one guaranteed hip replacement.

I'm pretty sure Usain Bolt has been training for much longer than 5 years and I'm equally sure that he hasn't had any knee surgeries yet.

Are a physical therapist of some sort?

Pretty sure you made a thread asking question about general physical fitness. So, in no way are you qualified to pass judgement on this type of training regimen.

Easy, peasy.
First off, it's the trainers that I know, not the athletes (although I know some of them too). Second, my question was meant to be pretty rhetorical.

Really?

Doesn't sound very rhetorical to me.

So, which pro or college athletes do you know? What reasons did they give you for not doing CrossFit?

It would if you looked at it in the context of Lao's post. Either way, if it wasn't clear then, it should be now.

You must have missed the part about the trainers, right? The two I got to spend the most time conversing with were Alan Aragon and Rich Tuten, but there have been others at different levels that I've met. They are certainly the authority, not the players, although living where I do I have known plenty of them as well.

Crossfit doesn't make you good at things, you have to be good at the target 'something' to get better at it.

Nope, didn't miss it at all. However, you also said:

Since you asked specifically about why the *athletes* don't do CrossFit in your earlier post, I was trying to stay on topic.

So, then, how about the trainers you know, Aragon and Tuten? Why do they say they don't train their athletes that way?

Chad Pugh is the S&C Director at Tennesee Tech - MS, CSCS, SCCC, USAW, CrossFit Level I - he obviously endorses CrossFit.

Then there is also Eric Burkhardt, 22 year vet of D1 coaching and one of the first people to ever be CSCS certified and also a USAW certified coach. He endorses CrossFit, too.

Like almost everything in the fitness world, there are people who like it and people who don't.
