Nearly my entire 30s was spent overweight/obese due to massive weight gain from two pregnancies and crappy diet). I'm in my 40s now - better diet, better body, better everything. After working so hard to achieve what I have, I'll be damned if I allow myself to regain and revert to my former habits.
The 20s-30s weight gain tends to make people look like they're 40 very fast. I think its happening less now than it used to, though. People are more into fitness than they used to be. It seems like only 20-25% of my peers have had significant weight gain. I definitely notice when it happens.
I've always had to work to keep my weight reasonable, ever since I was 8 years old and gained a lot of fat in puberty.
I have said this before. I see more and more overweight 20 year old something people than ever before. When I went back to school almost every single girl between 20 and 30 were overweight in my class. And I'm not just talkin 10 to 20 pounds. As people get older I understand they gain weight. Kids, stressful work, debt, bills.
This is why it's so important that the older you get you really have to be physical active.
Maybe it is a regional thing, it seems to me that the younger crowd are fatter than the ones that are hitting 40 and above. Are they getting lazier?
Of course there are exceptions. A friend of ours, she has blamed her age on her inability to lose weight. She has been blaming weight since she turned 40. I don't know what the science is behind it. But I never noticed any difference as i got older. Im 41 now and i work out 4 to 5 days a week.I currently count my calories keeping a food diary. So far I lost 18 pounds in 3 months. Its that simple.. CICO all the way. I eat an avarage of 1500 calories a day plus 50% of my work out calories back.
