This often does the trick for me! Even though, dropping the weight and increasing the repetitions, results in a more vigorous workload, the lighter weight makes it seem easier.

Yo. I'm a freshman in high school and I can tell you that an 8:40 mile is not a bad time. There are some seniors and juniors that can run the time that you do. The best thing to do is just to keep improving! I used to run the mile in over 10 minutes and thanks to extreme cross-country and Track&field workouts, my best time is 5:59. Everyone can Improve on the mile. You just need to be determined and know that you can! If you have any questions, send me a message on KIK messenger.

Nice. A thread that started seven years ago, and was last posted to in 2013. I wonder if the OP is still tuning in?

I'm 65 years old, reasonably fit, work out at the gym 2-4 times a week (no treadmill), and jog about once a week. Went to the track yesterday and ran 2 miles in 20 minutes. It was really jogging, short, fast walking, jogging, etc. I'm 5' 9", weigh 160. My goal is just to stay in shape, and try to maintain an 8 minute pace, but I've got some work to do to hit that goal.

Fastest I've run recently is 8:15. But I ran on a mountain trail with hills so don't know how accurate it is. Plus I'm 50 pounds overweight.

My miles are all over. If I'm just doing a flat mile and going for time, I can do a 7:13. If I'm actually going out for a 5-8 mile run, I stay between 8:30-9:30, depending on how my knee is feeling that day (I have cartilage damage, that eventually needs surgery.) I ran my last half at a 2:15, which was a 10:30 overall pace. I'm aiming for my next half to be closer to a 9:30/9:40 pace.

I'm 16 and yesterday I ran 4.5 miles in 33 minutes. It's all about pacing yourself
