I think sleeveless dresses are tacky, especially if one doesn't have the body. I have toned arms but am older and don't think it's appropriate for a church wedding. Most of the brides I have seen with these dresses look ugly on a day they should look beautiful.
Why should we have to look at a strapless gown as a starting point, These gowns should not even be called wedding dresses, it has gotten to the point that many of them are obscene, with not only no sleeves and deep front and back but also see through.
I assume this is so the bride does not have to change clothes to go right to the wedding night!!!
The point of a wedding dress is to show off the bride's best attributes. Some young women have lovely breasts and some don't. Some have a nice booty, and some don't. Some are so modest they would prefer to wear a white burqua, and others would be happier in a few patches of strategically placed lace. I'm pleased to look at any young woman, regardless of how she chooses to present herself.

I'm pleased to look at any young woman, regardless of how she chooses to present herself.
My wedding took place in 83 all the sleeves tended to be long, off the shoulder was fawned on if it was a wedding held in a church... I married in June Calif it was 100 out...:P
Our youngest daughter 24 married this summer and wanted to try on my gown~... We had a lovely mother & daughter time that I'll forever treasure ...I was very excited to bring out the gown 1983~ 2013...After almost 30 years and four children later, both I and the gown have gather a few wrinkles over the years...

I find strapless wedding dresses too much like prom dresses and not really appropriate, but then Im older, I thought with the lovely Duchess of Cambridge having sleeves they would become more popular.. back in the 60s you would never have seen a strapless wedding dress...
Very classy and elegant! These dresses don't scream hey I'm a ***** like many wedding dresses do nowadays.
And why did sleeveless, skintight become the style for everyone? I'm sorry, but everyone does not have a body where they need to be showing off the goods. Some ladies have more rolls than Pillsbury and honestly, it's not attractive. I'm not a size 0 and I would NEVER wear a tanktop or sleeveless shirt in public forget a sleeveless dress let alone a wedding dress. If I wore what these kids are wearing to the prom nowadays, my parents would have locked me up! My grandfather always said it pays to advertise just be careful what you're advertising.

Larry, you sound like the stereotypical male! When I got married, I did NOT pick out my wedding dress to show off my attributes and it certainly wasn't chosen to show off my breasts. Those weren't the guests to see! They're brides hands and eyes off!
Interesting thread when I first walked by here, I thought OP was trolling I could not imagine a wedding dress with sleeves then I saw pics & yup most are nice. Funny I had never even heard of it!
