This is the Montgomery Ward store in Fort Worth TX. Used to go there with my mom in 1940's. This building is apartments today and ground floor is parking area.
Back in the late 80's living in Denver, Colorado I can remember May D&F, Fashion Bar and Joslins. One thing I can remember about the downtown Denver Joslins location when I had visited the place in the summer of 88 were those three adults standing outside the main entrance smoking cigarettes..they were Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf..they were in town to promote their then-new TV series "Roseanne". Oddly enough nobody walking the 16th Street Mall that day apparently knew who they were ( no bodyguard to be seen at all ) even though I did as their photos had appeared in TV Guide some weeks prior. No I did not ask for their autograph.
Service Merchandise. The catalogs were crappy aside from the toys. Oh, the toys. I was 10 the last time I actually saw a Service Merchandise.
Lionel Toy Warehouse. Need I say more?
Eckerd Drug. There was one my grandmother took me to that still had a lunch counter. They served a great hit dog with a perfectly toasted bun. They had the soda fountain as well.
KB Toys(Kay Bee Toys)
I used to go to KB Toys every weekend with my family when I was a kid. They always had great deals on Marvel Comics action figures, like buy 1 get 2 free or buy 3 get 2 free, back in the heyday of action figures.
Media Play
Another frequent destination for my family. It was a movie store, a book store, a music store, a video game store and a toy store all in one, huge location. They always had cool, new products every week or two so I went there all the time. My brother even worked there for a few years when he was in high school so it has a place in my heart.
