I don't wear it often. It can be fun. But I am lazy that way. I do try to put on lipstick in photos. That is about it. I also add highlighter to my moisturizer for a natural glow. Once in a while I add mascara.
Team lazy. I wore lip tint today. It had been weeks since I last wore lipstick/tint.
I like how I look with makeup. Doesn't matter to me if other people agree or disagree. Some people think I look great without it, but I wear it because it makes me happy. Plus it's fun to put on.
I am sure this has been asked before, but I am hoping to get honest responses. Why do you like to wear makeup/don't like to wear makeup? How do you feel about makeup in general? NOTE: This is not a thread to bash on people who do/don't wear makeup, but to learn of each other's views!!
I enjoy wearing makeup. I find the routine of applying makeup and putting effort into my appearance relaxing and rejuvenating when I can be leisurely about it. It makes me feel more present in myself and allows me to be creative.
When I was a little younger, I avoided makeup because I thought it was dishonest to make your face look different and that women only wore it because they have low self-esteem. I got this mostly from my mother, whom felt a woman wasn't dressed if she didn't have makeup. She would go so far as to edit photos of me without makeup to look like I was wearing it! This fueled my hatred of makeup even more, but somewhere along the line I started to discard her influence and became more open-minded.
What is your experience?
It's fine.
I don't wear it often, and when I do, it's mostly minimal amounts...concealer if any blemishes or uneven skin tone, powder to set it, tinted lip balm. But it's fine. It's not a hobby, or something I find particularly interesting (I know women who are preoccupied to the point of being obsessed with makeup...that's not me).
I don't have any philosophical objections to makeup use. I do, however, think spackling on thick makeup looks awful/tacky/clownish, as does wearing makeup of a type/color that is unflattering.
Heavy makeup is not for me. The feel on my skin gives me the heebie jeebies.
I also steer clear of costly, makeup counter makeup, and prefer inexpensive, simple products.
I love makeup, but somedays I wear none or very little. To me it's a fun thing to do, but if I don't have time it's not the end of the world.
I'm very artistic (painting, drawing, etc) so to me it's just another way of being creative and expressing yourself. I love that we have options and can change our look whenever we want. I always look like me though, lol I am not that talented like some that can literally transform their faces (that's art!).
I do prefer some makeup over none on myself. The only time I think I look just as good without makeup is when I am tan. I feel like my natural pale skin makes me look sick with no color of any kind :/ My issue with myself is with my complexion.
To the women that don't have time for makeup, how much time do you think it would take you to put on basic makeup? I'm not being snarky, I'm just curious why it takes so long. Even if I'm getting fancy with eyeshadow and liner the whole thing takes less than 3 minutes. I'm at home with a baby now but when I was working, putting my makeup on was just part of my morning routine. I actually found it a little relaxing because it gave me a few minutes of peace and quiet before starting my crazy day. Now hair is a completely different story.
With it, it brightens my face. I can't even stand to look at myself without it!
A little foundation, blush, eyeliner, a little tint of eyeshadow, mascara, a little color on my lips and I am good to go.
I haven't worn make up in more thn 10 years and it doesn't bother me a bit since I only used a small amount when I went to work anyway.
I am as I am and make up does not change that.
