Designer crossbody bags are stylish AND practical. AND they are usually cheaper than a large designer tote or hobo AND work super well when you don’t want to worry about losing anything, like at a concert or sporting event. I love them as a woman who likes to travel light tho I’m part of a younger generation & we don’t carry around much except sunglasses, keys, debit card & license, phone, a feminine hygiene product & brush or comb. At least I don’t. I have a few friends that are new moms tho…AND they complain about needing to bring lots of stuff.
I do like larger bags like hobos & totes sometimes BUT it depends on where I’m going, what I’m wearing & what I need to bring ofc. Clutches are cute too. Totes are more for an outdoor adventure or shopping to gather or store extra items. I love them too…but I end up bringing home more than what I had in the bag when I left.^^
I carry a larger shoulder bag when I fly because I carry my meds with me.
My reality, small clutch with hospital papers, ID, key, lip balm, extra mask, kleenex, small bottle of 4711 my hospital cologne, mini herb book our waiting times are very long at hospital, reading glasses, one throat lozenge in a wrapper, mini water bottle fits 3 sips. Mini nail file. A small jar german salve similar to vicks vaporub use on nose.

When the hospitals and I started having a social calendar together, I shifted my ID, medical papers, credit card to a neck wallet.
One item in my neck wallets, on my key rings, in a Tac pocket, are survival whistles. I'm paranoid, worry about building collapses, hence why I carry them, insurance against earthquakes. Some are field ones, most are just for sound.
Yadda yadda... leatherman, bag of coffee hard candy, hopefully soon a revolver.
I'm about to make a journey across the country to relocate. I'm about to switch to a smaller handbag and use my car center console for most of the usual stuff.
I use a black leather Fossil wristlet for most trips away from home, so not much: cash, ID, credit card, insurance card, phone. My car fob clips to the strap.

AND I won’t even have a house key anymore because of a smart lock from the garage to enter our new house. IMO a small clutch or crossbody is perfect.
