for every day use i will only carry a small cross-body bag from MZ Wallace. space is very limited. i don't carry a wallet anymore. i have 5 cards (credit cards, insurance, drivers license) that fit in the card slots in the bag. additionally i carry a key fob and stick lip moisturizer and my phone. that's it.
if I'm going out i will carry a fancier cross body bag from Chanel. i carry the exact same items as above (no wallet), MINUS the key fob, because it would create a bulge in the leather.
My checkbook is in my wallet, so I 'carry' it too, but you make a good point. I don't usually write checks when I'm out and about; I use my debit card.
If I could carry, I would also have a gun in my purse (I'm gonna need a bigger purse.).
if i could carry i wouldn't take up room in my bag for the gun. i would strap it to my upper thigh, under my skirt.

And you'll go thru a LOT of thigh holsters finding one that actually stays put. I don't wear dresses or skirts too much. I generally carry at the waist or small of the back but some clothing isn't conducive.. that's when the purse needs a good dedicated pocket.
My list is very similar - except I'm not as vigilant with taking receipts out when I get home. You rock!
My change since COVID is a flashlight that doubles as a stun gun. In the first few months of the pandemic, I was assaulted by a COVID denier at the local supermarket (this was well before vaccines were being offered to the public). My daughter is still traumatized by the attack. I am glad I haven't had to use it since I got it, but I sure feel safer knowing I can defend myself from future assaults by some lunatic.
ETA: As a lip balm addict, I never leave home without at least one tin of Perfumeria Gal or Labello.
Wash she one of these millions of Karen's you see all the time on Karen videos?
I travel light, so I keep only frequently used things in my purse.
Wallet with cards and money
Phone
Lipstick and chap stick
Small notebook and pen
Key fob
Tissue packet
Today, I'm actually carrying my sole big bag, which is unusual. Typically, I carry just a wristlet, but I have several appointments today, which is keeping me on the move. In my bag, I have a card wallet, my cell phone, a zipper bag that contains my Kindle, a spare battery for my phone, charging cord, and earbuds. I also have a cylindrical "pencil" bag with a pen, pencil, lip balm, nail file, mints, eye drops, and a cleaning cloth for my glasses. And, finally, I have a reusable coffee mug, my glasses case, a reusable shopping bag, my car fob, and a couple of spare masks.
