I miss it there in many ways, but all of my family moved back to MA, so I will be staying here until I retire. I am over the back and forth thing I did over the years. I came back up here and everything fell into place.

No matter where you go there are negatives and positives. I can tell you that when I think of how I used to slam drivers in FL, I came here to Worcester, MA. The crappy, rude, drivers here win hands down over the drivers anywhere in FL. I can't stand driving through Worcester. Fort Myers was no treat either. However, it's like that everywhere.

Fall is nice, but winter sucks. In FL winter is great, summer sucks. So it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other. Nowhere is perfect. If you find perfect, please tell us all where it is.

Rick Scott, I agree....LOSER

Pay is crap everywhere, all states. That is a fact. UNLESS you worked your way up to making good wages like most people. I do well because I spent 18 years in FL doing what I do well. No one can expect to move there and think they will make NY, or MA, wages right away, unless you proved yourself.

FL is not bad, it's what YOU make of it. My attitude has changed towards FL, and I respect all it did for me in the past.

"Pay is crap everyhere" can't say I agree with you on that one, often salaries are all relative but working someplace where there is more competition for staff, that is tons of jobs where people can leave and go if needed makes pay, bonuses and perks even more lucrative. Problem with Florida in general is lack of quality jobs in some sectors, no competition so employers pay less, do not have to worry about giving big annual raises and can hire and fire at will. There is a distinct mentality that exists here that I have not see in other areas.

You can try to climb the slippery ladder here, odds are you will keep falling down. Small business owners are surely the ones who hang that proverbial carrot off of a rope that you will never reach...one of my former friends who left here years back interviewed at a company and the owner told him he would pay him a base salary (low, below market average) and give him a 20% raise based on company's performance, there was no guarantee and it could be 1% if that.

Carrot at work, he would never getting 20%, never! Was a total joke, and that's the mentality a lot of employers have here, pay you below market and give you some false hope you will get a big bonus year end.

Let's see..... we pay a little less than $2000/year here in Charlotte County to insure three cars......

Great and again my comment was based on South Florida not where you live nor did I speak for the whole state of Florida, We lived in Palm Beach County in Boca Raton..I just looked at my policy for South Florida when we lived there and my apologies it was actually 6540.00/545 a month ..We pay 245.00 a month here in Charlotte so it is a significant different per month that we pay than opposed to South Florida..Biggest difference every 6 months the insurance went up in South Florida and here it does not..

Life in S.E. FL has to be the pits. It is no wonder why a lot of Hispanics left and went to Orlando/Central Fl. Anyone would be insane to inject themselves into that mess.

I paid $600 a month for a studio apartment 25 years ago in NYC and can rent a 3/2 house in Weeki Wachee for that much today. See how it works when you cherry pick locations?

Also, if you compare salaries for a registered nurse for Miami Metro and Charlotte metro then subtract about 6.5% for state income tax you are looking at having at least $10,000 more living in Miami metro. Of course there are other factors but that is exactly the reason I posted income for a registered nurse since every area needs them and adjusted for the major factors, housing and taxes.
Picking and choosing one factor to compare without other entirely relevant factors being considered does not give a clear picture.

Puh-lease.

Frankly you'd have to pay me a tremendous amount of money to consider leaving SE Florida for Orlando. I'd do Tampa before Orlando.

And forget about East-Central Florida. Talk about BO-RING. Way too "deep south" mentality north of the I-4 corridor.

To each his own. Like it or not FL is in the deep south. I love FL but there is no way I would live anywhere south of Ft. Pierce. You could draw a line right across the state from Ft. Pierce to Sarasota. and I wouldnt consider anything south of that line. Hey, that's just what I like. I don't expect everybody to agree with that opinion. If S. FL is what you like, more power to you!

We have a great time here in East Central Florida and have never had any desire to live further south. I've worked in the West Palm, Miami, Kendall and Key West areas and to me, they were all depressing except for Key West. SFL is a nice area to visit for a few days, but gets old REALLY fast. I'd take the Florida Keys / KW any day over the fake boobs and Botox scenes of Miami.

I agree, if your looking for clubs and the party crowd then E-CFL is definitely not the place to be. But then again, we're not adults trying to act like teenagers either, attempting to relive our 20's by clubbing every night. We have the best mix of everything here, with the party scene being less than an hour away and suitable for most everyone except for maybe P-Diddy and the Kardashians (and thats not a bad thing).
