NY has the 8 year license.
I think that past a certain age people should be tested for their driving skills with an annual road test, something like that, some way to make sure Nana is still safe behind the wheel.
But it will never happen due to discrimination crap.
I've seen many accidents caused by granny that she wasn't even aware that she caused.
I've been in an accident caused by a 92 year old man that had no business still being behind the wheel of an automobile.

2. What is the point of impounding a vehicle because it was involved in an accident?

3. If you have a valid license and are not being charged with a crime, you do not get arrested.
What would they charge you with? Causing an accident?

It was elderly driver who mixed up the pedal with the brake! If you cant decide which is which in a spilt second, and you kill people, you need to have your car impounded or license taken away.

She caused an accident that resulted it deaths. The point of the impound is to see if something is going on with the car, and yes they do that in other places. Was the owner neglectful in regards to maintenance of their vehicle.

Since FL has no car inspections, you see everything and anything on the roads, cars with bald tires and bad brakes.

She should have been tested, she is probably on a half a dozen different meds and shouldn't be behind the wheel to begin with, and her license should be suspended until there is an investigation. It would be in other states, but in the land of "a day late and a dollar short', anything goes.

Exactly, and that's how it is handled in other states.

The reason FL seems to be so lax on this is no politician will address this problem. There are so many elderly(and they rule the roost in FL) that for a political leader to come out and say we need stricter laws so an mandatory testing for seniors, would be career suicide.

So the carnage continues.

Mountains, friendly, eclectic, artsy, southern culture mixed with the grungy/hippy vibe, the architecture... not sure how AVL reminds you of FL at all, lol. But all good.

We usually agree on most things, but no...I won't be making it back to Asheville. Way too small, too many tourists, run down areas, confusing roads...it reminded me of Florida 100 percent. And the mountains are nothing, maybe someone would be impressed by them if they have never been to/lived on the West coast. Didn't really think the city was eclectic or artsy at all. People were friendly, but I hated that hippy vibe...and what architecture? Asheville is a hell-hole as far as I'm concerned.

Raleigh is a great city, and I'm glad to live there. Truly a gem.

As you describe it is not reckless driving. It was an operator error.

The percentage of senior citizens, those over age 65, is less than 20 percent. How could such a minority have any control of anything?

If the the driver was DUI, left the scene of the accident, was driving with an invalid DL are arrestable events.

Tell me what other states have arrest as an option in an auto accident when the driver did not comitt a crime???
