I am! One of the last of a dying breed. We all head to the Carolina's one day, while folks from NYC keep moving to FL... paradise hahaha!

We to looked into the Carolina's. But when I down loaded both the North Carolina and South Carolina State tax forms and filled them out based upon my estimated retirement income, I found tax wise it was several thousand dollars more a year to live in the Carolina's - with North Carolina taking the biggest bite!

But, if you really want paradise, try Hawaii - they do not tax pensions, social security and retirement income. Unfortunately, a 1200SF house is roughly $500,000 to say nothing about the flights out there, but it is truly paradise!!!

cheaper isnt always better, as you found out though.

i would never base a decision on where to live based on a few thousand dollars.

There are many many NYC people in the Carolina's, particularly NC. The time will come, quickly, when NC cities are as crowded and jammed up as FL cities.

Living in cities erases the benefits of FL.

It could happen, but nowhere near to the degree of FL. NC wont look or feel like FL in my lifetime.

I agree with your 2nd comment.
