Shutters help to protect windows from flying debris in high winds, and those hurricane force winds happen anywhere the path of the storm goes, whether or not the path crosses designated flood zones.

You might want to check out getting shutters, panels, or some sort of window protection for future storms once you get moved here and things settle down.
Thanks for the tips! We definitely would like to get shutters to help protect more. When we had our wind mitt done, the insurance company said they were impressed by what was used/how roof was built.. I do know clips were used and long nails but cannot remember what else they mentioned. Our home was built in 1995 and has the original roof still - I know.. Probably will be getting close to needing replaced. We of course want to do whatever we can to prevent damage in storms, so will look into some options. We moved in and have been here close to 2 months now! Time is flying by already. Thanks again though for the advice

So how did everyone fair in the storm last night? I saw on the news this morning there was some bad flooding in Homosassa, and Pinellas County.
Clermont got away pretty easy, alot of rain, but doesn't seem to be any damage

Plenty of rain and wind in Spring Hill. Some folks reporting damage. Some trees down, lots of power outages across the county. Hernando Beach has flooding.

Well we were on the East coast and had rain and wind at night and ............ that was it. Beach was great before and after, though a little cloudy.

I was in Pinellas County on Saturday on Storm Damage Assessment duties. LOTS of flooding in St-Pete. Some areas you couldn't discern where the road was versus Lake Maggiore.

At what point do you put up hurricane shutters? I know Matthew is a ways off but clearly close enough to start thinking about these things.

First hurricane for us and trying to figure out the timeline.
