The problem is at the county health department level- some places are pretty with it while others are in hot mess territory. My local HD (Okaloosa) seems pretty with it- core team of people who will vaccinate others have already had their first shot and they're scheduling community vaccines by appointment only starting on January 6 based on their allocation. Go one or two counties over and those health departments still have no clue about hoe they're going to handle the logistics of vaccine roll out.

This rollout happening during the holidays doesn't help either.

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/coro...tu-story.html?

This is still a matter of whether the feds or the states should be in charge, which has been the overarching argument since March. Then within some states, counties and cities are told to do things on their own, except of course when a county/city wants to do something that the state doesn't like (wink-wink Florida).

I think things will sort themselves out when we are out of the holiday slump and everyone is in the full swing of things again.
Of course the states are "in charge" that's how America works.

We're a republic and the local governments know their states better than some centralized DC bureaucrats. But then, some locals don't WANT The responsibilities only the "rewards" and it's easier for them to blame the federal government.

That Orlando article is ridiculous to me. There are no reduced hours because of Christmas around here.

And LOL questioning the logic of health care providers and hospitals to give the vaccine? What?

In Indian River County, the health department booked a session with a local community health care group at the local fairgrounds to administer the vaccines, texted it via the emergency number and advertised it and the appointments were sold out within minutes.

It's NOT rocket science it's local politics which is EXACTLY why the FEDS need to stay OUT OF IT.

Great comparison with a state like Florida... Durr... I guess you are upset DeSantis didn't nuke the borders with Georgia and Alabama, plus ban any and all travel to Florida from absolutely anywhere...

But anyways, now do NYC.

Indeed, plus no state in the US has done well compared to Taiwan.

Nor can they. We have different laws, culture, etc. It's just the way it is. It has nothing to do with any governors response, regardless of their politics. Some did better than others, but overall, there isn't a whole lot that they can do.

Well, this is what Pinellas County has on its Dept of Health website as of 9:52 am on 1/4.2021. Registration for the vaccine is supposed to open in two hours and there is no info provided as to the procedure. They want to start vaccinating tomorrow, Tuesday, 1/5.

"We will be offering both a first and second dose of the vaccine in the Skilled Nursing Facilities starting next week in a continuation of our pilot.

Our next priority is setting a vaccine plan for those who are 65 years old or older.

We will launch this effort on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Our reservation system is expected to go live at noon on Monday, Jan. 4. We will provide information on how to reserve a time at a designated vaccination location once those details become available."

Wow they are really moving fast over there. Can't believe the WARP speed this is going at! With MiniTrump running the state you would have thought FL would be way ahead of the rest of the states..
