I was waiting on a post as I saw hoopla about it yesterday.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has always reported cases...my guess would be it's always mattered to them

Wouldn't infection rates be a direct correlation of cases?

Of course, it's easy to have the lowest numbers when you're cooking the books as DeSantis has dictated pretty much all year. https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...-as-cases-were ....and naturally the dumb sheeplings are buying it hook, line and sinker.

Yup, seems the left feels they must discredit DeSantis any time and anyway they can, even when they have to "cook" their criticisms, ie, fabricate them as has been shown with every one they have come up with.

All they do is make themselves look like petty fools when they do this, but I doubt they'll ever learn.

On this board and elsewhere last year, case numbers didn't matter. Reporting cases was answered with something like, "Duh, there was more testing." But official case counts just mean that there are MORE cases out there going unreported. It was all about hospitalizations and deaths. Focusing on the latter, Florida looked good or was at least doing better than expected.

Then Delta came along and hospitalizations and deaths skyrocketed. Aside from some vaccine mandate talk, the board was pretty quiet from the usuals about Florida's COVID experience over summer 2021.

Now Delta has washed out, taking a lot of Floridian and American lives with it despite widespread availability of three vaccines since winter. Then comes the praise report here and other places about how well Florida is doing in cases, a metric that was laughed out of discussions in the past.

I don't think the numbers are a matter of intentionally "cooking the books." I believe different states and entities are counting deaths and such in different ways, keeping us from having a true number for accurate comparisons because everyone has different criteria. Nevertheless, it is good news that the case numbers show that the virus is retreating. But if there is another wave, I hope case numbers aren't dismissed as they were before.

There is definitely a seasonal/geographical variable in the calculus. Florida's peak is June-July two years running.

My understanding is the hotspot globally right now is eastern Europe, including Russia.

Right now in the US, the top states are all in the north.

It's cold in them thar hills, better get inside.

Hey, let's make political theater out of it!

2020 had many including the OP here constantly praising their beloved leader because the death toll in Florida was significantly lower than New York and death numbers were all that mattered and not case counts.

And then Delta hit and the state more than roared past New York in death count and not even crickets from the Republican death cult followers here

Cuomo was proven to be cooking the books, and he went away, yet DeSantis is still here.
