My electricity bill is on the budget plan. $110 a month. I keep the A/C on 74 during the day and turn it down at night to 70. Even at 74, it's quite comfortable inside.

Mine would easily be 400 or more if I kept it at 74. Plus I would freeze. My AC feels REALLY cold, even at high temps. It works very well.

I get a strong feeling this was directed my way. We’re currently flooding in Broward County - You say you’re visiting South Florida this weekend so you’ll see it for yourself. I’m confident our current temps are much more comfortable than what’s being experienced in SWFL at the moment.

My homes have impact windows (maintains home temps better), they’re new construction built and are sealed very well, we have FPL (IMO the best utility company in the State), and we get a nice reprieve with daily rain storms. Also, I haven’t had a utility bill higher than $165/month so sorry, but my Florida weather experiences are much different than yours.

Both rentals are 2-story 1950s CBS construction with regular insulation and additional blown-in insulation into the ATTICs. Both rentals have the Trane HVAC heat pumps serviced (coils cleaned etc) yearly. Both rentals do not have pools. Both rentals are south facing and this year there has been little to no rain in South Tampa. The only time the outside temp gets lower than 82 in South Tampa in summer is when it rains. Which it hasn't. Last summer was same crap.

AC runs nonstop with thermostat set at 75 or lower.

And before anyone starts arguing about the rain, or saying they are getting buckets of rain every day, please see here for more info. about the severe drought in Tampa and SW FL:

https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Curre...aspx?Southeast

In the summer, rain is pretty much the only time ACs and electric bills get a break in Florida.

Weather will really vary in the state. You always get much more rain than in my area and have cooler temps.

Thank you for acknowledging this and not turning it into some homer type debate.

I don't know what they're getting in Tampa, but we're getting enough rain that the vegetation is greening nicely and growing. No drought here.

Tampa has had more rain than i have. Sarasota is the worst at only around 11" total for the year and i am around 16" now. That is insane.

We have not had to run our sprinklers in over a month. I couldn't imagine running my AC below 75. I would have to order a full thermal body suit on amazon along with fuzzy slippers. 78 day temp with 76( says wife) for night but I need a heavy blanket.
