People think it's cheaper to live in Florida because a majority of people relocating come from VERY expensive places like New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey..

Compared to Fairfield County, CT.....parts of Florida are much more affordable.

City Data forums (the Florida board in particular] gives people a retarded view of what day to day life is really like in Florida. There are so many realtors and other cheerleaders that prop up this place like its some kind of utopia when the fact is, you will be working hard if not harder for your money and everything else that goes with it. The site definately has a biased towards the "rainbows and gummy bears" view because if someone tries to states something other than that even if it is fact, the threads get deleted as "troll threads" and the user gets banned.

what about rent prices? Rent for me is cost effective because I don't need the square footage and there's no way I could get away with, per month owning, what I pay now renting ($515 a month, all utilities paid for a one bedroom, which is about 1/4 of my take home pay) Plus I'm not sure I want to stay here long term, I suppose that's part of it.
