Paul Newman had one called Sockarooni or something. Barilla can be OK. Mainly, the big popular brands are all too sweet for me, so look for an organic or a smaller label. I think all the Paul Newmans are organic. Also, just read the labels and look for sugar or corn syrup because even some of the canned tomatoes are full of sweeteners, so be careful.
Victoria's tastes just like one would get at a traditional Italian restaurant.
Cooks Illustrated rated Victoria's as "The Best". I've never had it or heard of it before. But based on an online search, it's reasonably priced and at Walmart (sometimes Costco). I'll certainly try this one! Thanks for mentioning it, james.

I'm looking for one that is more savory than sweet.
Many of them have quite a lot of sugar, for some reason.
We prefer a savory sauce or even a spicy sauce.
Suggestions?
I buy sauce just for the tomato sauce. For that I like the cheap Rinaldi. When I make spaghetti, I will do all my meat preparation with onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, garlic and seasoning, and add the jarred sauce just for the sauce. Mix together, then cook for a while to get the ingredients mingle. The end product doesn't even resemble the sauce from the jar...

It's $7.99 where I live, which is about what it runs me to make a nice pasta sauce from scratch if I can't harvest the ingredients from my own garden.
