Mid's sauce out of NE Ohio is hands down the best sauce known to mankind, seriously. http://mids.cc/products_extrathick.htm?isOn=1

If anyone is ever in NE Ohio, grab some jars and make sure at least one of them is their chunky sauce. Amazing flavor and massive chunks of beef, veggies and sliced mushrooms just like you make in your kitchen with all fresh ingredients, tons of spices, and no chemicals or corn syrup..

Get to NE Ohio? I LIVE here! And we have some fantastically good local sauces! I second Mid's.

I am also a fan of Jimmy's, Liberty, OH. And there is one that is made by the ladies of a Church - I am thinking it's Mt. Carmel that is sold at Marc's supermarket that is also delicious.http://jimmysitalianspecialties.com/

If I am just using it as a base I will buy the store brand, Hannaford around here. If I plan on using as is or close to it I buy Pastene.

Awesome!

I used to shop at Marcs too, LOVE that place. Now that I moved south, I discovered an Ollies and word on the street from my Ohio relatives, is that Ollies is owned by Marc himself. I guess its the southern chain - same cartoony marker signs and ads. The one in Greenville SC has an epic huge book section and drygoods/non perishables only in the grocery dept - no produce or meat here

I tried the Church sauce from Marcs a few times and didn't like it. if I remember correctly it was pretty watery and runny.

Rinaldi, original. It's a good base, can be had for $1.09, and doesn't seem to have a load of chemicals poured in. I add seasonings so it's perfect for me.
