Lately I've been buying the pre-formed and seasoned mini-burgers from Fresh & Easy. I cook these up on my little Foreman Grill. Put cheese on them too. For buns I use Busy Baker dinner rolls bought at the 99 Cent Store. They have a nice delicate texture that ordinary buns don't have. I heat them in the microwave, then just put mayo and mustard on them along with the meat and cheese. Let me tell you, these simple mini-burgers taste extraordinary.
Why do folks want to stuff all sorts of add-ons into their hamburger while making the patties? You know, things like bread crumbs, oatmeal, eggs, sauces, powders etc....
You know, I have tried adding stuff to the patty mix several times, and it always just ends up tasting "off" to me.
I have tried (on separate occasions) some combinations of cheese, onion soup mix, fresh minced onion, egg, cajun seasoning mix, steak sauce type stuff, etc etc. You would think it would be really good to have stuff cooked in the meat of the hamburger... not sure why it doesn't really work out that well.
Does anyone have any sure-fire suggestions for patty additives?

Once in a while I like to add some Heinz 57 sauce into the meat for my big burger. It tastes very good to me...but I don't put a whole lot of it in there - just a couple of tablespoons in a burger that's about 2/3 - 3/4 of a pound.
When grilling/cooking your burgers or veggie burgers try topping them with Grill Creations, "Citrus Grill". It adds a new flare of flavor that is surprisingly very good.

Sounds good. I often get the ranch/hot sauce mixture on chicken sandwiches and philly cheese steak sandwiches.
I used to like Boca burgers, until I discovered Morningstar Farms® Grillers Prime® Veggie Burgers, which are awesomeness incarnate.
Much better taste; I eat like 2 boxes of these a week. Wheat gluten patties 4 life.
Where i'm from on Long Island they never put mustard on burgers.
So I grew up not liking it on my burger. I'm not sure about NYC, but upstate you got mustard.
When I moved to florida it took me a little while to get used to having to request no mustard.
If i'm home I like Mayo and ketchup, a big slice of onion, cheese, bacon and tomato.
A fried egg works great also, I'm willing to try almost anything except anchovies
I used to only have lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mayo, but since I've discovered sweet/hot relish, I skip the ketchup and have that instead. It's that Harry and David sweet hot relish that everyone plops over cream cheese for an appetizer....really good on a burger.
