all this talk of ferns..... when I stepped on the stupid nail I was cleaning out the flower beds along the front walkway to the house. The section I was working on has suddenly become choked with ferns. Wish you guys lived closer.....I hate to throw them out but I've got no place else to transfer them to. (Besides I'm moving and not looking to be creative with this property anymore) I'm upset that I won't be able to enjoy the green beans
and tomatoes in the garden. But then....looking forward to new gardens with real dirt!!!!(not sand) Endless possiblities!!!!!

One of the things I railed against in California was adobe clay; I longed for deep friable loam that I associate with gardening in New England. But guess what......my new house is built on blue clay! lol not everything turns out the way you plan......but I am coping with it by adding lots of soil amendments and elevating some of the beds. By the time I am done....... "Endless Possibilities"

Our development in NJ was built on an old farm so our soil was amazing-just black topsoil about 1' down.

Elston bet it's going to be breathtaking when you're done.

I really love how elevated beds look and they way they can keep some of those darn rodents out.

I decided to make a big Chef's salad for supper tonight, got some nice crusty bread to go with it. I think I will have to hit our farmer's market here, couldn't believe how much produce has gone up in a week!
