I don't think I've ever seen McDonald's sell large drinks for $1 in NYC. That's definitely the price for a small drink there.
Yeah, not sure you can even get a small for just a dollar. I think and I could be wrong the smalls go for 1.29$ at most of the fast food places around here.
...Restaurants charge way, way too much for their drinks.
It's one of the easier ways to generate profit. When I worked in a pizza joint, the manager told the wait staff to push soft drinks because they are a high profit item.
I believe they are here, too, although I'm thinking that they rolled back the costs.

Yeah, most drinks only cost a restaurant pennies. Honestly, the plastic/styrofoam cup probably costs McD's more than the liquid. McD's probably figures that if you are coming in and getting a drink, you are getting food as well.
Are you talking coffee? It's $1 for a huge one...the only way I got through a work day, drove in every a.m., 2 blks. from wk. When the local McD's closed down to rebuild/modernize, I went through withdrawal.
I used to LOVE mcdonalds ORANGE drink.. (When they made thier own)
I dont like HI-C orange too much and I certainly dont like ORANGE LAVABURST much @ all!!
