Last night's dinner was preempted again. I had started prepping the stuffed cabbage when husband says "you know if you're not into cooking tonight we can get Chinese." I declined saying I didn't feel like cooking but I didn't feel like Chinese either. So he says there's always Juanita's. What! I told him to put all the food away while I changed and grabbed the kids. It is a small five table place where Juanita, an older Mexican woman, cooks in an open kitchen. It's good solid home cooking without the work. I had chiles rellenos with beans (to die for) and rice. I had Negra Modelo to drink.
The kids ate and behaved perfectly. Juanita gave us some rice pudding with cinnamon she was working on to end our meals. It was so good.
Stuffed cabbage tonight. Hopefully third time is the charm and I actually make it!
Am sticking a large chicken in the crock pot with lots of veggies. Will probably also have some kind of cold slaw. We are possibly going to get a bit of snow later today, but even if we don't, highs will not get out of the 30s for a couple of days.

Delicious
Trying out a new recipe called French Onion Chicken Stew served with Farmer bread/Bauernbrot to wipe the plate clean. For dessert 1/2 a pink grapefruit. It is the season.
Chicken fingers with spicy crust, oven baked potatoe quarters (partially steamed, finished in the oven with letter and stone ground mustard), collard greens. Baked apple with walnut streusel for desert.

Are you sure your husband actually likes stuffed cabbage?
Tonight we are having butter chicken with brown rice and steamed broccoli. Unless I opt for more leftover vegetable soup. I'm going to be shoveling snow today so we'll see what appeals after that.
BBQ bacon cheeseburgers and onion rings tonight. I don't even really care for BBQ sauce, except on Lil' Smokies, but I saw them on Food Paradise last weekend and absolutely *must* have one! lol
Spaghetti with ground meat & diced veggie sauce, salad, garlic bread, and pudding for dessert.
