I bought so much pork butt once on sale...we had everything pork, pork, and more pork. The kids were sick of it. Instead of saving leftovers, I was scraping it right into the dogs dish nightly. He was a happy camper.

Default Shrimp with lobster sauce. Woah, this doesn't taste like lobster.

I got a new job, been here about 10 weeks now. Every so often the office will order from various local restaurants and ask if we want to order anything. I've done it twice. One, was for some place and I ordered a "Philly cheese steak" for like 9 bucks and it came with a whole wheat roll, tomato and mayo. Take a look at this picture.
Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich, How To Make A Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich, History of Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich

It looked absolutely nothing like that picture. It had lettuce on it, too. Wait, it did have a long bun. That's where the similarities end. It had enough steak on it to perhaps please a small, 2 day old puppy. Maybe.

I like Chinese food so they ordered some Chinese food the other day and I got the "Shrimp in lobster sauce." There was no lobster in my sauce. There was an egg in some cornstarch thickened water though. I hate to say this, but I got like 8 shrimp and 2 quarts of "somewhat Asian flavored egg drop soup" with some chunks of soft carrot and bell pepper bits in it.

Was just wondering if anyone else had ordered something and expected it to be something... Say a lobster sauce that actually tasted of lobster...and were like, "This ain't right." Kind of like that Philly sandwich. I have to admit I heard one of my co-workers order the same sandwich and I heard him say "and no mayo." I thought that was kind of weird. They don't come with mayo, bro." is what I was thinking. I did look up the recipe for shrimp and lobster sauce later and found out that lobster sauce used to be flavored with lobster", but not any more. The more you know, I reckon. Guess that's just my fault for reading "lobster" and thinking, "It will taste like lobster." Wonder how many other misnamed items are out there.

No, and there are no oysters in Oyster Sauce, either. It's just the name of a type of sauce.

Oyster sauce - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That's some good to know info. Wikipedia is wrong, yet again. It says it's made with oysters, or oyster extract or something. Tastes good as heck in soups and stir fries.
