Kshegirl...
I agree with you. I'm the same way.
I took our spare bedroom & put Hubby's Grandparent's bedroom set in there from the mid 1930's very cool looking. It's in excellent condition. I also have different pieces of my Grandma's & Grandpa things, my Mom, Hubby's great Aunt & Great Uncle. Hubby's great Grandma & my Great Grandma. It's pretty cool, looking at all these things from so many people in our lives.
We love antiques... so why I never did this sooner is beyond me.

I know what you both mean. I have the kitchen table my Mom got at an estate sale 40 years ago and the hutch that was in the dining room when we grew up. Love it.

Soooo...When she dies should I give it to a Son or Daughter?.. She never did speak anything good about her kids..
(just so people know I love old folks)

I just think it should go somplace besides me.. I will never trully appreciate it for what it is..
Polish it it up and think about all the hands which polished before, and all the conversations they witnessed over the table, then use the heck out of it over the holidays.
If it's silver plate it really has no value except sentimental, but if it's sterling take good care of it and offer it to her kids when the time comes.

I think she wanted you to have it so she wouldn't give it to her kids. If she wanted her kids to have it, I think she would have offered it to them first. It sounds like she appreciates you, and you are most welcome to give it away to someone you know will appreciate it as much as her. She will be glad you found a good home for her stuff.
