Weston is a prime example of a city with many Hispanics ( at least 50% ) and income levels are high , as are educational levels and crime is low ... maybe it is just me but I do not care where anyone is from as long as they are good people .... anyhow class and education have much to do with it . I know some Hispanics are pretty bigoted towards black folk .... not sure about bigotry towards white folk though ... I knew many Hispanics in Weston that did not like the fact that many Anglos had moved and other Hispanics had moved in ..... well to do Hispanics see living among white non Hispanics as a status thing believe it or not .
Apparently, it is just you because the gentleman wants to live near other Latinos *shrug*

Just my 2cents as I left Weston in 2006. If you look in the older section of Weston known as Bonaventure you will find many condos & villas that are in the $80,000 range. We lived in newer TH in area from 99-06 and absolutely loved it. Plenty of latinos. If I recall most of my neighbors were from Venezuala & Argentina. Weston has alwa been known as Weston-zuela to people outaide Weston.

I believe you would be very happy there. Close to Border of Sunrise. In fact in mid-90's the Bonaventure area took a vote and had to choose between Weston & Sunrise. Obviously Weston being the newer city won out. Just north of PP.

Good Luck

Thanks Ruski - i second that. Most people don't know that we have more (or used to have) more cattle than Texas. As to Davie, it has earned it's Western town roots honestly. Davie, Florida - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anyway not to get off topic. Anyone who is Latin will find comfort in Weston (I am now a minority :-)) as well as pembroke pines, and pretty much anywhere in Broward County.

I haven't read the whole thread but I am sure someone else has pointed this out.... Cattle and Cowboys in Florida

My first husbands grandfather was a real cowboy in Florida in the 1800's. He drove cattle herds to Punta Rassa from Central FL for shipment out of Florida. You do know that Florida is ranked 3rd in cattle production east of the Mississippi and 10th in the nation. That is currently. In the past, it was higher.
A lot of the big ranches have been sold and/or not in strictly cattle production anymore.

You shouldn't, it's digusting. Hileah is the worst offender. That attitude would NOT fly in the north east or the south. There is going to be a major backlash once the rest of the country realizes just how beautiful SF is and wants it back.

How is that a shame? I didn't find too many folks in Hialeah particularly nice

Weston was not "always" been known as Weston-zuela. We lived there from 1998 thru 2003 and it was just plain Weston at that time. In fact, the Brazilians and Venezuelans were just starting to come in around 2003. When we first moved to Weston, it was mostly all white.

It is not just this, but many other things as well. An Asian family only wanting their kids to marry another Asian is called culture; a non-Hispanic white doing it is called racism.
You know boxus, I think people have a problem with respecting other peoples opinions/choices here in America. We are far more of an intolerant society than most would like to believe. It always has to be this with us or against us proposition. Look at Chic-fil-a, the owners don't agree with homosexuality and now people want to attack them. Yet if someone is tolerant of that lifestyle, then everyone sings their praises. The same way someone has the right to be for, someone else has the right to be against.

If a white man wants to live with other whites, then hey, salute, have fun, who cares?! And same goes in the other direction, Africans want to live with Africans, Hispanics with Hispanics, then have at it. As long as you are not imposing on my liberties, I could care less.
