Much like Lake Okeechobee in Florida, The Great Salt Lake covers parts of five counties in Utah. But unlike Florida, only four of the Utah counties meet at a single point.

If Vermont stayed as part of New York, then the easternmost point of NY would've been nowhere near the ocean.

In August of 2006, I went to the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and I had to wear a coat while the rest of of the country was experiencing a heatwave with over 100 degree weather.

Looking at the climate data for Sault Ste. Marie, I see that the temperature can go below freezing in every month except July.

Sault Ste. Marie isn't even the northernmost point of Michigan nor as far north as Duluth, Fargo, or Quebec City so Sault Ste. Marie maybe the southernmost place in North America that freezes during the summer outside of mountain tops.

I was in Houghton, Michigan in June several years ago and had to deal with high 40s/low 50s temperatures.

Virginia has four independent cities (which unlike in most states, are separate from counties) with the same names as counties in the state. Two of these, Fairfax and Roanoke, are surrounded by the counties of the same name. The other two, Richmond and Franklin, are far removed from their identically named county.

Small towns in the NW part of the peninsula of Michigan are the farthest west the Eastern time zone reaches.

So the sunsets around 10pm in the peak of summer.
While the furthest east in Owl Head Maine it sets at 8:25.

At the same time that part of Michigan is WEST of places like Chicago/Milwaukee yet it has an EASTERN time zone.
So the sun sets later farther west by an hour.
Only situation that i know of where that happens

4 counties in the western part of the U.P. are in the central time zone, including Gogebic county which is the farthest west county in the U.P.

On that note Grenora, North Dakota at the far western edge of the Central Time Zone, is I believe is the only place in the 48 states, that has sunsets after 10PM, from June 15 to July 4.

Sunrise and sunset times in Grenora, June 2021
