Although 1/3 of the states begin with M or N, there is only one adjacent pair of M- or N- states

But original question posed was what is the only other pair of adjacent states also back-to-back in alphabetical order?

Otherwise every state can be paired up with another in alphabetical order.

Not sure if other big cities have a place like this?

On the corner of Roosevelt and Austin ..... 4 towns create 4 corners. Chicago, Cicero, Berwyn, and Oak Park.
I feel that also occurs elsewhere in the nation. Anyone have a local situation like that?
Norridge is not surrounded by Chicago on all sides; Harwood Heights is just to the east of it.

However, both Norridge and Harwood Heights are surrounded on all sides by city of Chicago.

Cities surrounded by another city

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_surrounded_by_another_city#United_S tates

One that caught my eye -- A one-bloc enxlave of Denver surrounded by Glendale, itself surrounded bt Denver. Also, I forgot about Carter Lake Iowa, surrounded by Omaha, Nebraska.

All those in townships in Pennsylvania must be duplicated by similar townships in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Over half of the entire US coast line is located in Alaska. 47,300 miles worth of coast in 1 state.

Not sure how odd this is, but from Miami. You can drive to Toronto quicker than you can drive to the Mexican border. Also while we're at it. From El Paso TX, you can drive to Cheyenne WY quicker than you can drive to Galveston TX.
