Especially with all the California transplants we are getting here in Texas, DFW at least. Just check out a Dallas thread, and look how many Californians are headed this way or are already here.
Might take 20 or 30 years but it'll happen. Who would have ever thought California would overtake New York 50 years ago?

I was looking for stats on this a while ago, and here's what I found

According to their respective state governments.
California 2050 60 Million
Texas 2050 54 Million
Florida 2050 32 Million

If we believe the stats, then it will probably happen between 2060 and 2070 but who knows what the future will bring.

Note to Texans: Being number 1 isnt all its cracked up to be. Everyone scrutinzes your every move and you can do no right by some. But Im sure you'll be able to handle it.

Based on the numbers, Las Vegas and Phoenix are by far the biggest recipients of Californians. Id like to point out that Northern California is losing a lot less people then Southern California. 90% of the 300,000 people who have left the Metropolitan borders of the San Francisco Bay Area have relocated to neighboring Sacramento, Stockton or Modesto.

At the current rate, hell no. But over time everything changes, including rates so I'll say its possible. Would probably take half a century. There are some circumastances that could speed up the process though: 1. All illegal aliens are deported/sent to concentration camps-this would affect Texas as well obviously but TX gets plenty of immigration from other states while Cali's population is leaving other states much faster than coming in. 2. Border is secured -similar to the first. 3. Water shortages make most of the southwest unsustaneable. 4. Cali slides into the ocean after the next "big one"
