Never figured out the allure of the DFW area. High crime, horrible traffic, hot summers, icy winters, brown lawns, and dry counties. Everybody seems to have the "dont mess w/texas" attitude which gets old very quick. I wouldn't live there if you paid me to.
I always thought the allure of DFW was the great income vs cost of living ratio, excellent shopping, exciting dining/night life (relative, though), mild winters, ease of travel thanks to a huge/busy airport, and fantastic job oppurtunities.
Like with all major cities, crime and traffic are going to follow however.

Exactly. This is what I've observed every time I've been there. No cost of living ratio or good paying jobs could ever lure me to DFW. There's plenty of other places with good jobs.... and lower crime, certainly. Where I live now probably has a similar crime situation to DFW, but at least we have winter. I hope to go further north in the near future.

I DO! And yes, it gets hot up north, too, but for MUCH shorter periods of time.

I'm totally opposite of you my friend! I'm now in St. Louis and can't stand the winter! 4 snowstorms with atleast 6" of snow each time? Not for me...
I'll take the heat and humidity since I've got AC and a pool at home.
St. Paul and Forth Worth both seem like hip happening place
...you're not beeing sarcastic are you? Because that's a first time hearing or seeing that!
(in defense of my city, Fort Worth is hip enough. It keeps the wild western heritage image, but not as strong as you might think. Can't say anything about St. Paul, since I've never been...)
To add on to what someone was saying about statistics, In any side by side comparison on socio-economic stats: average income, educational attainment, student performance, poverty levels, etc, etc., etc. Minneapolis - St. Paul is going to blow Dallas-Fort Worth out of the water.
On the other hand, it gets really cold in Minnesota so I suppose it really depends on what you're looking for.
