The people moving to Orange County or LA county coming from the Northeast is insignificant. Most people moving to LA or SD move from other places in California or neighboring states. There is no great exodus from the east coast to California as others have purported on this thread.

Good one. I actually meant to include that.

However...Dunkin Donuts coffee > Starbucks coffee.

This map makes me realize why so many in New Mexico are opposed to Californians coming into their state and attempting to change the culture, rather than assimilate into the existing one.

I feel you on that one. If you feel like going to a place by car, you can always get a cab. LOL

Moving from county to county

I never said there was some great "exodus" but the map does show more people move from the Northeast to CA than the other way around and that is what I was trying to show. Nearly just as many people moved from NY County to LA as SF County did.

You wanna know why the east coast is better than the west coast? Everything is always being compared to the east coast. The south, the midwest, the west. You dont hear to many comparisons being made about elsewhere.

I am actually suprised how many people are LEAVING. the blackest counties (unfortunately, of which mine is one) signify at most a little over 1000 residents moved to california whereas the reddest counties signify over 11,000 moved FROM california. South Florida is still the east coast, and seems to take a few of them. Although the west is overrun by Californian expats.

This map also shows us that people move to Nevada, which proves than the migration patterns of stupid people should not decide which coast is "better".

Congrats, you can read and interpret a map! Yes many people are leaving CA, that isn't anything new. The point is there are MORE people moving from the Northeast to CA than from CA to the Northeast, at least the smart ones, you can interpret that however you want but it is what it is.

I've spent plenty of time over on both coasts and bar none prefer the west. I'm not a huge fan of living in winter weather, nor am I happy with humid heat that makes your clothes stick to you. I live on the central coast of california which has some of the most beautiful beaches and lovely little shore towns in all of California. Where else can I go to the beach in shorts and flip flops, then go hiking in the mountains, then go snowboarding all in one day? I like to spend my free time outside (I'm chained to a computer at work) all year round and wouldn't be too happy to be snowed in or have to be a slave to an air conditioner.

east coast any day...iv been to both coast and honestly its a lot better. and in regards to that map showing where people are moving, i think it is a bit off. i work in the office for a moving company and most people move to the south (which is still on the east coast). anybody from the northeast can back me up on this one when you bring up people moving, retiring, they would all say most people move down towards florida.
