Arabic speakers seem to be better than any Europeans at mastering English pronunciation, rhythm, etc.

For whatever reason I always find that the Swedish speak very good English. I'd say Germans are pretty good too though.

In Sweden, students learn English from 4th grade (3 - 4 hrs English lesson/week). American/English TV-shows dominate the Swedish channels and TV, and there's swedish subtitle.

definately the dutch, i was amazed at how good thier english was when I was in amsterdam/rotterdam/the hague in '06. also the friendliest people I met in Europe towards americans. I was told alot of it had to do with the dutch obsession of american culture. Music, tv, movies. all modes of communication in english.

It probably doesn't hurt that Dutch and the Scandinavian languages are the closest to English of all the European languages both in vocabulary and grammar thanks to their shared heritage.

Everyone I met in Holland spoke perfect English -- better than most Americans...

What does this have to do with General US?
