IMO, your second reason affects the first. If people were prepared to make, and then made, good decisions, they would have been more able to adjust to changes in the economy. An educated person in a supportive family setting should be flexible enough to change careers, difficult as that may be. This is not limited to any ethnic or racial group, or either gender.

The Irish (not the Scots-Irish) were considered a different race, when they arrived here, by British who considered themselves to be different from (& better than) the French & Germans, not to mention Jews and southern/eastern Europeans. While some Irish battled or succumbed to this perception, others created their own institutions, parallel to existing ones. The church played a large role, in building schools in geographical parishes, which duplicated neighborhoods or towns, as well as constructing hospitals and universities. Taverns, social & political societies also flourished. Certain occupations became dominated by the Irish. When they achieved political power, it was used effectively to benefit their own. Other groups were limited or ignored, and had to win their own battles to succeed. Even within the church, Irish & Germans competed for control, while the Italians and Polish were relegated to their own, ethnic, non-geographic, parishes and schools. Jews had their own networks. It wasn't a Christian who coined the phrase, "Don't hire anyone that you didn't meet in a synagogue." Blacks had and have many parallel institutions as well, some of which have flourished, while they struggled to be incorporated into the general economy, society and government.

I started this thread to spur on a conversation about this article, and to get other persons perspectives on what they think. I also started this to pick apart that blog and to point out the fallacies of it. I don't buy into that pseudo-science stuff either. I want others to say what they thought about such a theory.

My point is that my thread was meant to spur conversation on the subject.

And I disagree with the conclusion the author of that blog came to. That's why I want to discuss it here.

Glad that you and others have caught on to the faulty arguments and questionable basis which Sailer and his fellow travelers make.
That was part of my point. It was to point out the faulty arguments. I pointed some of this out. The person who wrote the article sought out to peddle the idea of "Blacks are savages and will only behave themselves if they are scared".

And some of Steve Sailer's stuff is outdated too. No other arguments were considered because the whole idea was to peddle an agenda.

A lot of the reason why blacks are locked up stem from not having a stable father. A lot of the time this leads to violence and drug abuse.

Personally, I don't commit crimes because it's illegal and I don't want to go to jail. Some cops are racist. Some black people are just unaware of the impact and damage they do to themselves. I know the stigmas of a black woman; therefore, I make an effort to show others that I'm not anything like that. I dress well, speak properly, etc. It also helps that my parents gave me a "white girl name". I haven't experienced much racism in my life and I'm thankful.

My brother has a "white boy name" and speaks properly. He dresses well and speaks properly. However, he plays football and has a very stocky build, which is intimidating.
Amen'' flip side is like where i work =Law school, we have a black female security guard from the Inglewood Ghetto area, and if a Black student was to walk by, dressed nice and speaking good English , she goes off about uncle tom and sell out and how they would whoop dat arse if he came into their hood carrieng on like that..

sad they think ghetto hood rat is something to brag about, be proud of..

The OP's blog's argument falls apart because of the incarceration rates of Blacks in the Deep South states are among the highest in the country. The Whites in much of the Deep South are of violent UK border stock(border between England and Scotland). These Whites are no more to be trifled with than Celtics.

Actually, I have to disagree with you on the incarceration rates.

States with lowest Black incarceration rates: Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, NORTH CAROLINA, MISSISSIPPI, Rhode Island, ARKANSAS, SOUTH CAROLINA, ALABAMA.

http://www.sentencingproject.org/doc...dethnicity.pdf

Other states with Black incarceration rates below the national average: Minnesota, Maine, TENNESSEE, Illinois, GEORGIA, Alaska, West Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan.

States with highest Black incarceration rates: South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Vermont, Utah, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The states with low Black incarceration rates either

1) Don't lock people up as much as other states
2) Large numbers of Blacks live in rural areas.

As for Whites of Celtic/borderland descent, you have a high percentage of such persons in Kentucky, and there is a high Black imprisonment rate there. There is also a higher than average White imprisonment rate there. I notice that most of Kentucky's Black population lives in rural areas.

I'm approaching this from a geographer's perspective. One needs to consider the GEOGRAPHY of prisons. Alot of Black prison inmates come from urban areas. My point was that there are other things to consider. And by the way, that is not my blog. It is someone else's blog. My point was that the blogger who made that entry is wrong. I do agree with you that the argument is flimsy, but not necessarily for the reason you think. My argument is geography-based. Where the argument falls apart is that the data is from the 1990s. Minnesota's Black incarceration rate has dropped tremendously since the 2000s. Large number of people there of German and Scandinavian stock. Wisconsin next door, similar demographic, but among the highest Black incarceration rates in the nation. 7 out of 10 Blacks in Wisconsin live in Milwaukee, in one of the most segregated metropolitan areas in the nation. The Twin Cities area has Blacks living in more areas besides Minneapolis and St. Paul. They are becoming more suburbanized, and there are Blacks living in other parts, such as St. Cloud, Rochester, and even places like Mankato.

I found some more updated information. It's 2010 data though. Getting Black incarceration rates by state according to the year is difficult. This paper from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee: http://www4.uwm.edu/eti/2013/BlackImprisonment.pdf

According to the paper, Wisconsin has the highest percentage of its Black male population in prison, close to 13%. The states that rank after that: Oklahoma, Iowa, Pennsylvania, California, Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, and Kansas.

Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas rank in the top 10 as far as having the highest percentage of its White male population in prison. Oklahoma and Texas rank #1 and #2 respectively.

^One thing to consider is that I could not find the data for prisoners per 100,000.
