This is meant to be a discussion about a blog entry I found. This is not meant to be a troll thread. The point of this thread is to have a civilized conversation about this, and to get a perspective.
This blog entry is talking about the imprisonment rates of Black Americans by state. The author of this blog believes that having a large population of Whites with Celtic ancestry is the main factor in a lower Black imprisonment rate.
To sum this blog entry up(I don't really want to repeat the title), the writer basically says that Blacks are somehow more inherently prone/unable to behave and require violent and scary people to keep them in line. The very last sentence said "Sometimes it takes barbarians to deter a savage". Basically, I think the writer was referring to Blacks as "savages" and referring to Whites of Celtic descent as "barbarians", which I find quite disgusting.
Personally, I disagree with alot of this, because it isn't as simple as the writer tries to make it out to be. And it suggests that Blacks as somehow "inferior" and "inherently bad". It started out as a comparison between Milwaukee and Boston, (Milwaukee having a large German heritage and Boston having a large Irish heritage) and turned into a national comparison. I think there is more here than meets the eye. There are way more factors than race and ethnicity. I just want to see what the different perspectives are. That is what this thread is for.
My issue, as a Black Male, is white people (especially on forums) tend to post these threads generalizing, analyzing, and studying black people and various social issues. They are incredibly provocative and come off as very ignorant.
If you really care about the Black Community, try mentoring black youth or doing community service in the inner city.
As much as I don't like most rap music, I have to disagree with what you said. If you knew anything about the history of gangsta rap, you would know that the violent crime existed long before the rap music came out. The violent lyrics in alot of rap music aren't necessarily the cause of violent behavior. Rather, it reflects the bad behavior that is already out there and puts it on full blast. Violent behavior has existed before.

I'm Black. And the point of this thread was to take that blog entry, and pick it apart, to refute everything that was being said. I am a Black male, and felt offended by the idea that "Black people are savages and need to be approached as such". I was offended, so I wanted to pick that blogger's argument apart.

Not just the message of violence but also constant hussling, which leads to crime.
If I watched mobster films on a daily basis, multiple times a day. It would have a negative effect on me.

Hustling was around before rap music ever came out. Many people want to blame rap music. Many aren't considering that it all predates rap music. The music and the movies are a reflection of what is already there.
But you do realize that a significant number of posters on this site have the same opinions about black people as the blogger that you were offended by?

I get your point but it's a very simplistic one. Like arguing child pornography should be allowed because molestation predates pornography.
Rap didn't invent violence etc, but it glorifies it.

Don't bring child pornography into this. Child pornography in itself is pedophilia. Rap music in itself is not a form of violence. It just glorifies it. Big difference. My point is, banning rap music won't stop violence.
That is not my blog. Someone else wrote that. I shouldn't take it seriously. What scares me is that some people will take this as hard fact and try to implement it into public policy.
Interesting how you have to keep explaining yourself to this guy over and over and over again, isn't it. That's a lib for you.
Anyway, I clicked the link you provided and read the blog entry, plus the comments. I found the latter to be even more entertainingly laughable, and filled with plenty of regional stereotypes against whites from other whites.
