I am close to accepting a promotion in Greensboro/Winston(it's in Greensboro), and am trying to find luxury/custom homes in the $500-$750k range that are not too far out in the "country".. we looked at Summerfield, and loved some of the houses, but it was a little too remote. We also looked at Buena Vista in Winston, and liked some houses, but we really like new home communities. There don't seem to be nearly as many as there are in Cary/Raleigh, which is another job option. Please weigh in if anyon can help...golf/country club communities would be a plus...and we must be near great schools.
Thanks

Lake Jeanette in Greensboro may have what you need- close to shopping with new businesses moving into the area daily it seems. Let me know what you need and I will be glad to help.

If you definitely want Golf Communities and want an older home in an established neighborhood (Trees!), then Starmount, Irving Park, or Hamilton Lakes may have what you need. Newer homes are a rarity in these older neighborhoods, but you can't beat them for location, schools, and beauty.

I too was going to suggest Starmount and Hamilton Lakes. Also, Sunset Hills. They're not new homes, but they're gorgeous.

I live in Sunset Hills and I can attest to that. Great older homes, beautiful streets, close to everything. I love it there. But if you want a newer home, they are very few and far between over there. I think there are two new homes going up on Rolling road.

Ragsdale High School is not a place you want to send your children. I'd steer clear of the Guilford County School system in general.

I think you would like the Grandover community in Greensboro. Very easy access to I-85/40 and is a very nice upscale neighborhood. Grandover has a business park, resort hotel/conference center with spa and a couple 18 hole professional golf courses. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is also headquartered there. Grandover is not remote

here is the website

Welcome To Grandover

Colfax has some nice homes you may want to consider.
Colfax in nestled nicely between High Point & Greensboro.

Look here for an example:
27235 Homes, Real Estate, Condominiums & More - REALTOR.com

Oak Ridge also has some nice homes, but a little more "out of the way" than those in Colfax.
