Can Publix keep a store open during a remodel or close completely? The Five Forks store is getting an extensive remodel so was just curious.

Yes. I think much of the work is done overnight after hours.

You can drive by the house, though.. That is a real house in Abbeville.

Unbearable? Irony was she was from a small town in Georgia I believe.
She was very young then. That was almost 30 years ago. She is only in her early 50's now. I think she apologized later and everyone moved on.

My mother was in the movie and I think they filmed the pool scene at Converse College if I recall.. In the move she taught Laura how to swim.

It blew over decently quickly. I do know that she went somewhere that she (and pretty much anyone else) had no business going to.

another piece of irony.. I believe Joe Savitz, the mayor at the time mentioned in the article, went on to open the Village Grill in Abbeville.. If not him, I seem to recall it being some member of the Savitz family.

And while it's not fancy.. Anyone who's ever eaten at Yoder's Dutch Kitchen down there knows that's some of the best home cooking you'll ever get from a restaurant.

Publix will update its older Greenville County stores. Most store locations will add self checkouts.

Nice. Publix didn't have self checkout for years. I was surprised when I saw it in one of their new stores in Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago.

Lidl plans only one new store in S.C. in 2020. I wonder if this is the Poinsett Hwy. store on the lot they acquired across from Publix.
Closing stores in Kinston and Rockingham N.C.

Lidl is my primary grocery store for most items. The milk and bread are incredible values/heavily discounted. I prefer Lidl to Aldi due to its large store size/better selections, bakery, and self-check out.
