The 120,000-square foot Spartanburg County Bass Pro Shop will be located in Greer off Interstate 85 at Highway 101, between Spartanburg and Greenville, near the BMW plant, to open in 2016.

It will feature an Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill, a popular nautical-themed restaurant that also includes 12-bowling lanes. The Bass Pro Shop will be the anchor store of a 75-acre mixed-use development that will include hotels, retail and restaurants.

(Opps, I assumed g-man430 would have started a separate thread like he did for Cabella's...didn't realize it was under Greer Retail.)

Kroger is not locating next to Bass Pro Shops. They are yet to re-enter upstate South Carolina. If they did, I highly doubt they would locate in an all industrial area. Kroger usually locates near residential areas like other supermarkets.

Since I work at BMW and will drive by there everyday, I think it's great. Traffic may be of a little concern with BMW and Bass traffic.

BMW is building a new entry to the plant off Brockman Mcclimon Road, so that should help with traffic.

To qualify for the tax incentives, a hotel must also be included.

I wonder what will be the main access to Bass Pro Shops, the access road to Spinx, Burger King and Super 8, or Caliber Ridge Drive. The intersection of South Carolina 101, BWM and Caliber Ridge Drive is a signalized intersection.

I wonder if Super 8 would consider relocating into a larger facility as an outparcel along South Carolina 101. Its present locatin is far recessed from the highway and in the middle of the site.

IMHO, this project definitely deserves its own thread now.

The entrance road to the Spinx (which does not have direct access to Hwy. 101) already wraps around the Spinx station and continues into the 75-acre Pacolet Milliken Enterprises property where this development will be built. It probably makes sense, then, to improve that road and signalize the intersection with 101.

I notice that, according to the Spartanburg County GIS map, the Spinx property is already within the Greer city limits but the Pacolet Milliken property is not. I surmise that the City of Greer will takes steps to annex that property as soon as possible, even though there may be few or even no tax benefits at this time due to incentives negotiated with the state prior to the announcement.

Does the property border 101, I-85 and Caliber Ridge Road?
