I'm hearing rumors including Chick-fil-A, Bloom (again), and Target (again).
I was talking with a few friends very recently who convinced me that adding a Whole Foods Market in Powdersville would make sense, considering the company's potential plans for an additional store in the Greenville market. A Powdersville store, combined with other on-par stores and restaurants, would likely draw from a much larger area than a Simpsonville store. It could easily attract shoppers from both Anderson and Pickens Counties, not to mention pick up traffic from I-85.

I hope Target locates in Powdersville. That would be great for that side of the metro.
I think Powdersville could work for Whole Foods, but a location downtown or in the Cherrydale area would be better. Either of those locations would draw from different people than Woodruff Road, but are near what I consider to be higher-income areas. I know that there is certainly money in the Powdersville and Easley areas, but they don't seem like the stereotypical Whole Foods shoppers I imagine being in the downtown/North Main area or the Paris Mountain/Montebello area.
Target is probably not coming to Powdersville. They have stopped all expansions into the Carolinas until further notice. I drive by the Powdersville site almost everyday and haven't seen construction workers out there in at least a week or two. Wonder if CVS and whatever else is supposed to go on site stalled?
I agree with Greenville about Whole Foods Market. It could work in the Easley/Powdersville area but there are other locations in the Greenville metro area that would probably be better. However, I surely wouldn't complain if one came to the area I live in.
I've also heard that Walgreen's has supposedly purchased the former Sonic Drive-in property. Can't imagine how that will work without significantly changing the infrastructure, but we'll see.
In other news, a proposal is in the works to create a new fire service district in the hopes that it will lead to an eventual incorporation of Powdersville.

I agree, Downtown would be perfect, but it may not be an option for their second store in the Greemville market. Cherrydale seems reasonable, although it is not as easily accessible.
There are more than enough wealthy people in the Powdersville, Easley, Anderson, and Clemson areas who shop at the Woodruff Road store.
I know the economy isn't going like gangbusters, but the Powdersville area would seem to be a sure bet for most ANY kind of retail. I don't get it.
